Brett Richey Eliminated

Brett Richey
Brett Richey
Stud-8

Crippled to 80,000 in chips on a previous hand, Brett Richey made his last stand in stud-8.

Brett Richey (X)(X) {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {2-Hearts} {9-Hearts} (X)
Ville Wahlbeck (X)(X) {5-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} (X)
Vitaly Lunkin (X)(X) {4-Clubs} {8-Spades} {J-Hearts}
Ray Dehkharghani (X)(X) {3-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

Richey completed on third street and got three callers in Ville Wahlbeck, Vitaly Lunkin and Ray Dehkharghani. The action checked to Richey on fourth street, he bet, and all three opponents called. Wahlbeck had first action on fifth street when he made an open pair of queens. He bet, Lunkin and Dehkharghani folded, and Richey put the last of his chips in.

Richey showed {10-Spades} {3-Clubs} for a pair of tens while Wahlbeck held {5-Hearts} {4-Hearts} for queens and fives. With the {9-Hearts} he hit on sixth made him tens and nines and gave him a ray of hope for survival, but the river was no help and Richey departed in 18th place.

With Richey's elimination, we're on the money bubble and play has gone hand-for-hand.

One of the Biggest Bubbles in Poker

With the elimination of Brett Richey in 18th place we are now officially on the bubble.

This bubble is one of the biggest in poker today. In monetary terms it's perhaps only bettered by the $100,000 High Rollers Event at the Aussie Millions. However in terms of prestige and recognition, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event is as big as they come.

The next player out will go home with nothing to show for four days of toil, other than an interesting story to tell the folks back home, while the remaining 16 will be relieved to have secured at least $72,914 in prize money.

The fans are four and five deep on the rail as they try to catch a glimpse of their favorite player as they watch on in anticipation of the bubble bursting!

Kassela Misses Monster Draw

Hold'em

Frank Kassela made a button raise and Ray Dehkharghani called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}. Dehkharghani check-raised Kassela's bet, only to have Kassela come back at him with a three-bet. Dehkharghani called and they went to the turn, which fell the {5-Spades}. Dehkharghani bet and Kassela called. The river was the {4-Clubs}. Dehkharghani bet, Kassela raised and Dehkharghani called.

Dehkharghani turned over {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} for top pair, top kicker and Kassela mucked.

"Busted straight draw and flush draw," confessed Kassela.

"Sorry you missed," said Dehkharghani, dripping with sarcasm.

"Well, you don't have to be such an asshole about it," snapped Kassela as he departed the table for his ten-minute break.
