Suck, Re-Suck For Schulman

Nick Schulman opened to 250 from the cutoff and found two callers including Kenny Tran out of the small blind.

The flop of {10-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts} was checked round to see the {6-Hearts} fall on the turn. Tran checked, Schulman fired 600 and his opponent on the button made the call before Tran passed.

When the river landed the {J-Spades} Schulman's 1,200-chip bet was called by his opponent holding {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Schulman however tabled his {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} for a bigger two-pair after the river paired the board to see him moved back over starting stack.

Nice Turn for Rousso

Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso
Five players had limped to see a flop come {4-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. None bit. The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and this time when it checked to Vanessa Rousso decided she'd toss out four (100) dark blue chips. With various degrees of deliberation, all of her opponents folded.

"I liked that turn guys," said Rousso as she flipped over her {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and dragged the small pot. She's up at 34,500 now.

Minieri Shrinks to Nothing

It turns out that Dario Minieri could get smaller after all -- his stack has now in fact dwindled to absolutely nothing, after getting his last chips in with top pair on the flop against his opponent's flush draw. The flush duly came in, and Minieri duly headed back to the Shire, without that one bracelet to rule them all.

Minieri: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}
Mr. Opponent: {9-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}

Board: {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}

Lee's Opponent Mucks QQ

An under-the-gun player made it 300 to go before Bernard Lee called from middle position. The flop came down {J-?} {8-?} {5-?} and both players checked.

The turn brought a {2-?} and the first player bet 1,000. Lee raised to 2,800 and his opponent called. The river was a {5-?} and after his opponent checked, Lee fired a bet of 3,350. His opponent tanks and then folds {Q-?} {Q-?} face up.

Lee - 32,000

Esfandiari Chips Up

Antonio Esfandiari and his now trademark visor
Antonio Esfandiari and his now trademark visor
With a raise to 300 and a call before him, Antonio Esfandiari made the call from the button.

On the flop of {J-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} the original raiser checked, before the caller made it 1,100 to go. Esfandiari put in a raise to 3,400 to take the pot down and climb to 32,400.

With eight WSOP cashes to his name, but no Main Event one to his name, Esfandiari will be looking at making 2009 his year to break his drought.

Arieh Gets a Double Up

Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh
We didn't catch the action but arrived at the table to see Josh Arieh raking in the chips after a huge clash on the river on a board of {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

Arieh tabled {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} as his unfortunate opponent revealed {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. Nuts over second nuts will do it! Arieh is up to 56,000.

Euros In The Field

There's a lot more Europeans playing today with many making it into the Brasilia room including former EPT champions Joao Barbosa and Peter Jepsen, WSOPE main event runner-up John Tabatabai, Italian bracelet winners Max Pescatori and Dario Alioto.

Hamilton Flops Nuts

Catching the action on the turn with the board reading {8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} Lisa Hamilton led out for 600 from the big blind.

Her opponent check-called out of the small blind, before check-calling once again; this time for 1,300 when the river landed the {4-Hearts}.

Hamilton tabled {9-Spades}{7-Hearts} for the flopped nut straight, and the pot as she climbed to 33,000 in chips.

Mizrachi Under Half His Stack

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi raised to 250 from the cutoff seat before the player in the small blind reraised to 750. Mizrachi made the call.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and Mizrachi called a bet of 1,200 from his opponent. The turn produced the {3-Diamonds} and both players checked. After the river fell the {A-Diamonds}, the small blind fired out 2,300. Mizrachi released his hand, suffering another loss. He's down to 14,000 chips.

Not So Gentle Ben

Ben Roberts is up to about 35,000 after firing out 8,000 into two players on a {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {Q-Spades} board.

Both of them seemed pretty keen to see his cards but both gave up, Roberts quietly mucking behind them with a smile as he raked in the chips.
