Deeb Doubles Through Safieddine

Francois Safieddine opened the action with a raise from early position to 2,600 before Shaun Deeb popped it up another 4,000 from the cutoff. The blinds folded and Safieddine was the lone caller as they took a flop of {J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Safieddine was first to act and he led out for 17,000 before Deeb moved all in for his last 27,000. It was only 10,000 more to Safieddine who made the call.

Safieddine: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Deeb: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

Deeb had the rockets and they held up when the turn and river bricked {5-Clubs}, {5-Diamonds}.

A great start to the day for Deeb as he now finds himself in comfortable shape with 50,000 as Safieddine slips back to the same amount.

The Rich Get Richer

Chip leader Victor Greely has added to his already large stack, eliminating another opponent in the process.

Greely raised to 3,000 preflop in early position and was reraised to 12,000. On a flop of {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, Greeley led out for 15,000 and his opponent reraised all in. Greeley made the call, showing {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flush draw, while his opponent showed {A-?}{6-?} for trip sixes.

When the board ran out {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, Greeley hit his flush and built his stack to 275,000.

Deeb In Action Early

Online phenom Shaun Deeb is one who won't be playing to just limp into the money. With sights set on a WSOP bracelet, Deeb has found an early double up.

After the player on the button shoved all in for 9,500, Deeb looked down at his cards in the big blind and sighed, "Alright I call."

Deeb tabled {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and would need some help against the button's {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The board obliged when it ran out {6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, giving Deeb trips and the double to 29,000 chips.

Approaching the Bubble

We commence Day 2 only 40 players short of the money stage of this tournament, so we can expect play to be a little conservative in the early stages of today until the money bubble bursts. At that point, the 297 remaining players will have $2,742 locked up and we will be more prepared to gamble it up!
