Santiago Sunk By Makhija

Alex Santiago moved all in for his last 66,000 and Amit Makhija re-shoved over the top. The table folded around and the cards were on their backs.

Santiago: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Makhija: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The board fell {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and despite flopping a flush draw, Santiago could not hit a turn or river and was eliminated from the tournament. Makhija now sits with 265,000 chips.

Kido Pham Eliminated

Kido Pham was all in preflop for his last 30,000 chips with Vivek Rajkumar making the call.

Pham: {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Rajkumar: {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

A gambling call by Rajkumar paid off when the board ran out {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Trip sixes is good to move Rajkumar to 395,000 as Pham heads to the cashier.

Alexia!

Alexia Portal
Alexia Portal

Alexia Portal has just doubled up with her pocket kings holding against the ace-jack of David Robinson.

The dealer presented a baby board of {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs} to double Portal to 205,000. Robinson is now in trouble with just 12,500 chips.

Hellmuth Doubles

An unusually quiet Phil Hellmuth has just doubled up through David Benefield. Perhaps the lack of noise was because Hellmuth had to do it the hard way.

Hellmuth moved all in from under the gun for his last 53,000 with Benefield making the call on the button.

Hellmuth: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Benefield: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board landed {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Hellmuth spikes a ten on the turn to double up to 119,000 with Benefield back to 385,000.

Buchanan Survives

Shawn Buchanan was all in preflop for his last 17,500 with Anthony Gargano making the call in the big blind.

Buchanan: {K-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Gargano: {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Not exactly powerhouses but it didn't matter on the {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Spades} board as Buchanan hits a pair to double through. He's back to 43,000 with Gargano down to 51,000.

From 1k to 100k

Veronica Dunn is continuing her remarkable comeback after several double ups to now be back in the game after being down to just 1,000 in chips just moments ago.

Amit Makhija raised to 15,000 before Dunn moved all in over the top for 86,500. The table folded around and Dunn now up over 100,000 chips!

Schmidt Gets Aggressive

Ryan Schmidt is now up to 320,000 after some aggressive betting collected him a nice pot.

Catching the action on a {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop, Phil Hellmuth bet 6,000 into a 25,000-chip pot with Schmidt making the call on the button.

Anton Nikaj then put in a check-raise to 25,000 to force Hellmuth to fold. Schmidt made the call.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and play checked to Schmidt who fired 28,000. Nikaj made the call and the {Q-Spades} completed the board on the river. Schmidt fired again for 25,000 on the river and Nikaj gave it up.

Giang Doubles; Dunn Crippled

Veronica Dunn moved all in for her last 53,000 from early position before Chau Giang called all in for his last 52,000.

Giang: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Dunn: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The board fell {8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} to give Giang a set for the double up and leave Dunn with just 1,000. Giang jumps to 110,000.

Dunn was able to win her next hand and recovered to 5,000 in chips, so perhaps a "chip and a chair" story in the making?
