2-7 Triple Draw:
Eugene Katchalov started things off with a raise from the cutoff with Scott Seiver and Cole South making the call. Katchalov and Seiver took two, as South was a bit more ambitious as he discarded three.
South checked to Katchalov who fired a bet. Seiver put in a raise which forced Cole to fold, but Katchalov made the call and drew one. Seiver did likewise.
Katchalov checked, Seiver bet and Katchalov made the call, as both players drew one on the final draw. In the final round of betting, Katchalov checked once again and Seiver responded with a bet. Katchalov couldn't make the call as he mucked his cards and Seiver took it down.
Seiver is up to 250,000 as Katchalov is in a world of hurt with just 65,000 chips remaining.
Razz:
The short stack of Edwin Ting found itself in the middle by fifth street in a recent Razz hand. Unfortunately for him those chips didn't come back home, and instead found their way to David Oppenheim.
Ting: () (X)
Oppenheim: () ()
Ting made a decent eighty-seven but Oppenheim outdrew him to make a seventy-six to take it down and send Ting to the rail. Oppenheim is up to 560,000.
Razz:
Doyle Brunson (X)(X) / / (X)
Ilya Bulychev (X)(X) / / (X)
Bulychev completed on third street and Brunson called. Brunson made the low board and led out on fourth street and despite pairing his six, Bulychev called. Brunson bet again on fifth, sixth, and seventh streets and Bulychev called him down.
Bulychev showed and won the pot with a 9-8-6-4-3 low. He's up to 460,000 while Brunson is getting a bit low on chips with 210,000.
Limit Hold'em:
Erik Sagstrom opened it up from middle position with Michael Mizrachi defending his big blind with a call.
The two took a flop of where Sagstrom's continuation bet was met with a call. On the turn, Mizrachi led out with a bet. Sagstrom put in a raise but Mizrachi re-raised once more. Sagstrom made the call.
The river was the and Mizrachi led out with a bet, but Sagstrom responded with another raise. Mizrachi sighed and folded face up for a busted straight-flush draw. Sagstrom flashed and raked in the sizable pot to move up to 730,000.
Limit hold'em:
Eugene Katchalov open-raised from UTG, Cole South three-bet from the button and Katchalov called all-in.
Katchalov
South
Katchalov did not improve, the board running out to send him to the rail. South is up to 510,000.
Limit Hold'em
Scott Seiver raised from the button, Cole South three-bet from the big blind and Seiver called. South led out on the flop and Seiver called. South bet the on the turn, Seiver coming along with a call, and bet the on the river. Seiver called all-in.
South turned over and that was all she wrote for Seiver, who hit the rail. South is now up to 600,000.
Stud:
Scotty Nguyen fans will be disappointed to learn that the Prince has been eliminated from the tournament. Nguyen was short for most of the day but just couldn't find that double up to get himself back into contention.
With Scotty all in on third street, Abe Mosseri and Doyle Brunson decided to check the action all the way to the river where Mosseri chirped, "Ok, I guess I'll bet..." which saw Brunson out of the way.
Nguyen: (X-X) (X)
Mosseri: (X-X) (X)
Brunson: (X-X) (X)
Brunson didn't have to imagine what Mosseri was betting into a dry side pot with, as Mosseri quickly revealed in the hole for a jack-high straight flush; far too good for Nguyen who was sent to the rail.
Mosseri has made a tremendous run following the dinner break and now sits with over 600,000 chips.
Stud 8/b:
Nick Schulman (X)(X) / / (X)
Doyle Brunson (X)(X) / / (X)
Doyle Brunson was all-in on sixth street against Nick Schulman, who turned up in the hole.
"I started with three baby clubs and now I'm drawing for my life," Brunson quipped as he turned over .
Brunson hit the on the river to make aces up. Neither player made a low and Brunson scooped the pot, doubling through Schulman.
Incredibly, young gun Alexander Kostritsyn has opened up a huge gap between himself and the rest of the field, with nearly double the amount of chips of the second-placed David Oppenheim. In this sort of event, where six of the games are of the fixed limit variety, and against an all-star lineup, this is a massive lead at this stage of the tournament with 31 players left. We know that Kostritsyn plays an aggressive game but can he keep up this sort of momentum all the way until the final table?
Alexander Kostritsyn - 1,650,000
David Oppenheim - 890,000
Mikael Thuritz - 880,000
Robert Mizrachi - 826,000
Vladimir Schmelev - 820,000
