Evdakov Keeps on Truckin'

Stud 8/b:

Never underestimate a small Russian man with the record for the most WSOP cashes in a single year.

Despite starting the day with only 20,000 in chips, Evdakov just keeps doubling up to stay alive, his most recent chip infusion coming in the Stud 8 round. In a hand against Eugene Katchalov, Evdakov made a wheel on sixth street to scoop, taking his stack up to 95,000.

Alexander Kostritsyn (X)(X) / {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Tom Chambers (X)(X) / {2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} / (X)
Nikolay Evdakov (X)(X) / {2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} / (X)

Then on the next hand, Evdakov and Chambers chopped up Alexander Kostritsyn's money when the split the pot, Chambers making the low with 7-6-3-2-A and Evdakov taking the high with rolled-up deuces. He's up to about 120,000 now.

Ivey Gone

Stud 8/b:

The first major bracelet of the 2010 World Series of Poker will not be going to Phil Ivey. He's now busto at the hands of good friend Eli Elezra.

Catching the action on fourth, both players checked, before Ivey bet out on fifth following another check from Elezra. However Elezra sprung the check-raise with Ivey calling. On sixth, Ivey paired up and led out for the last of his chips with Elezra making the call.

Ivey: ({2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}) {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Elezra: ({A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}) {2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

Ivey would need help to survive and found the {A-Spades} on the river to give him the lead for the low-half of the pot, but Elezra squeezed out the {6-Hearts} to improve to a better low to go with his ace-high flush to scoop the pot. Ivey is off to the cash games as Elezra now sits with 210,000 chips.

Steicke Powers in No Limit Hold'em

No Limit Hold'em:

Catching the action on a flop of {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Joe Cassidy was facing a bet (or raise) of 55,000 which was sitting in front of David Steicke. Cassidy made the call but when the {J-Spades} hit the turn he was faced with a bigger decision as Steicke moved all of his last 181,500 chips into the middle. Cassidy went into the tank for a good five minutes but eventually tossed his cards away.

Steicke is giving a great showing for himself in this event despite a limited amount of mixed game experience. He's up to 360,000 with Cassidy down to 390,000.

Ting Stings Alaei

No Limit Hold'em:

Daniel Alaei opened the action with a raise from under the gun to 12,000 with Edwin Ting making the call.

The two went to a flop of {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} where Alaei fired out 16,000. Ting made the call and the {3-Hearts} repeated on the turn. Alaei fired again, this time for 36,000, and again Ting made the call.

To make things a little more scary, the {Q-Spades} landed on the river which caused the breaks to be applied by both players. Check, check.

Ting tabled {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} which was good to collect the healthy pot. He's up to 235,000 with Alaei slipping to 440,000.

Oh No Bonomo

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

No Limit Hold'em:

Abe Mosseri started the madness with a raise to 16,000 from under the gun with Nick Schulman and Doyle Brunson keen to come along for the ride. However Justin Bonomo spoilt the fun by moving all in for his last 60,500 from the small blind.

Mosseri let his hand go, but interestingly Schulman called for the second time in the hand. Brunson cringed and toyed with the idea of making a gambling call but let his {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} hit the muck.

Bonomo: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Schulman: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

It was a bad spot for Bonomo and Schulman's overpair held on the {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} board. Bonomo is eliminated.

David Bach Eliminated

No-Limit Hold'em

We will not have a repeat $50,000 Players' Championship winner this year, as David Bach has just left the building.

Bach moved all-in from under-the-gun with {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, only to run into Erik Sagstrom's pocket aces. Bach could not pull off a miracle on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs} board and he was outta there.
