Not a Happy Chappy

In a scene that reminded me of that Hitler movie clip that seems to do the rounds on various forums, German Vincent Wagner was almost foaming at the mouth when the dealer accidentally mucked his cards whilst he was in the big blind. In a fit of rage, he leapt from his chair like an epileptic salmon and started shouting what I expect were expletives in his native language. "Sir, if you're going to talk to me, you must speak in English," warned the tournament director sternly.

Wagner turned to John Juanda, who is also at the table, looking for support, but Juanda just shrugged his shoulders and said he was happy to leave the decision with the floor men. Inevitably, there was little that could be done, and play quickly resumed, but the player wasn't happy and continued to show his dissatisfaction, this time in the language of the host nation: "I am a very, very careful player," he pleaded. "This has never, never happened to me!"

Minnullin Doubles

Three players saw a {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop including Paul Magriel, Albert Minnullin and Edward Pham.

Both Magriel and Minnullin checked to Pham who moved all in for 28,900. Magriel tank-folded and Minnullin made the call.

Showdown
Minnullin: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Pham: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

The {q-Spades} on the turn was a golden card for Minnullin and the {5-Clubs} on the river gave him a flush just for fun. He is now up to 27,500 and Pham is down to just 1,400.

Bubble Bursts

After an open to 3,000, Russian journalist Ilya Gorodetskiy bumped it up to 7,400 only for Brazilian Jorge Breda to move all in from the small blind. The initial aggressor folded, but Gorodetskiy was less hospitable, and, after a brief dwell and with the foreboding shadow of the bubble looming, called all-in.

Gorodetskiy: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Breda: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Board: {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades}

Taking the Mick

Jorge Breda, who was responsible for everyone in the room but one making it to the money, has just made it a double K.O. by eliminating short stack Michael Bernal. Despite flopping a nut flush draw on the {2-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} flop, Bernal's {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} fell behind to the Brazilian's {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and following a heart-less {4-Diamonds} turn and {Q-Spades} river, he was gone.

Breda, is surfing the wave of good form with 139,000.

Table of Death

Table 369 is right on the rail and currently only two people are watching it. The table may not look tough to the average passerby because there isn't a Phil Hellmuth or Daniel Negreanu seated there, but we know a good bunch when we see them.

At a second glance, we at least hope most people would notice that 2008 WSOP Player of the year Tom Schneider is in Seat 3. We don't expect most people to know his tablemates however, making them even more dangerous:

Seat 1 - Josh "brikdog24" Brikis
Seat 2 - Eric "blizair" Blair
Seat 6 - Casey "bigdogpckt5s" Jarzabek
Seat 7 - Eric "AvrilSharapova" Ladny
Seat 8 - John Myung

We are wishing the best of luck (or an early table break) for all of the players at Table 369.

Medvedev Movin' Up

Andrey Medvedev open-shoved for his remaining 12,000 and a player in the big blind looked him up.

"I hope I have two live cards," the player told Medvedev.

Showdown
Medvedev: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Big Blind: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

The player in the big blind was in fact dominated, and after the board ran {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Medvedev doubled to 24,500.

Handicap Match

Post bubble has seen more action that a Die Hard boxset, and none more so than Table 359 who just witnessed a three-way all-in. It was short stack Dustin Choe who lit the first spark, pushing all in from under the gun. Janne Pitcko made the call one seat down, only for big blind Kevin Carlson to shove from the big blind. Again, Pitcko made the call.

As the cards were revealed, two faces grimaced simultaneously:

Carlson: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Choe: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Pitcko: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades} flop favored the lone ranger, but as an {A-Diamonds} hit the turn, Carlson yelped in delight. Choe remained silent.

The {K-Hearts} river improved their hands, but unnecessarily so, and as Pitcko was left out in the cold, Carlson picked up a nice side pot, whilst Choe took his share of the rest.

Carlson: 37,000
Choe: 16,500
Pitcko: 93,000
