With only one more player to go before the money, there's a noticeable tension in the air. A few short stacks have been shoving all in, but so far none have been called and beaten. Tournament directors are doing their best to keep people from rushing over to seats where action looks to be going on.
Humberto Brenes pulled us aside and told us that if he cashes today, he will tie Erik Seidel for fifth overall in World Series cashes. He currently has 52 cashes over the span of his career. Brenes also has seven World Series of Poker Main Event cashes and is currently sitting in second place in that department.
The numbers have been crunched and we're back in action with 221 players. With five to go until we hit the money, play is going down on a hand-for-hand basis and is moving along quite slowly.
PokerStars Team Pro Humberto Brenes is the last player from the team to still be in the tournament. He flirted with elimination on a few occasions yesterday and no doubt hopes to sneak into the money this afternoon.
We know we're close to the bubble, but tournament organizers aren't sure just how close we are. The clock has been stopped to allow officials to count heads and find out exactly where we stand.
We're less than ten minutes away from the start of Day 2. We should reach the money bubble in a matter of hands with less than ten players to go before busted players are able to collect a cheque on their way to the door.
