Negreanu Leading

"There's a lot more there than there was before," said Daniel Negreanu to our reporter who was counting his stack. We eyeballed it at around 210,000 and Negreanu informed us that he cracked Saar Wilf's pocket aces to get the chips.

According to Negreanu, Wilf raised and Negreanu flatted with the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. The flop came {K-}{9-}{9-} and Wilf fired. Negreanu called. Wilf then barreled the blank turn and blank river, to which Negreanu called off.

"Easy game," he said.

Lederer Flushed

Howard Lederer was one of our late registrations into this event, but he might've preferred to wait a little longer to take his seat after a cooler of a hand went against him to send him crashing to the rail in dramatic fashion.

Catching the action on a flop of {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}, play was checked to Chris Ferguson who fired 1,500. Mikael Thuritz put in a check-raise to 7,000 before Lederer moved all in over the top for about 70,000. Ferguson folded but Thuritz snap-called.

Lederer: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Thuritz: {A-Spades}{4-Spades}

It was nut flush versus second nut flush as "The Professor" rose from his seat in dismay at what had just unfolded.

The turn {8-Diamonds} and river {6-Hearts} were rather meaningless and after a count down of chips, Thuritz just had him covered and Lederer made a hasty exit from the Amazon Room. Ferguson stated that he folded top two pair so he was able to escape cheaply as Thuritz jumps up to 155,000.

Deeb Gets Three Streets of Value

Making hands is fun!
Making hands is fun!

On a flop of {K-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, Roberto Romanello checked to Shaun Deeb, who bet 3,700. Romanello called and they went to the turn which fell the {A-Spades}. Romanello check-called another 7,300 from Deeb. The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Romanello checked a third time. Deeb bet 22,400 and Romanello called.

Deeb showed {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} for top two pair and took down the pot. He's up to 124,000 while Romanello slipped to 30,000.

Billirakis Smoked

We arrived at Steve Billirakis' table just in time for a showdown. The board read {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Alexander Roumeliotis had put him to a decision for his last 30,000 chips on the river. Billirakis made the call.

Roumeliotis showed {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for aces up and Billirakis hit the rail. Roumeliotis holds the current chip lead with 260,000.

Impromptu Bathroom Break While Galfond Tanks

With the board reading {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Spades} on the river, Sam Stein moved all-in for 30,250 into the 29,000 pot. His opponent, Phil Galfond, started to tank and told the table he'd need a "couple of minutes" to make his decision. Believing they had enough time to make it there and back while Galfond tanked, tablemates Juha Helppi and Isaac Haxton took off for the restroom.

When they returned a few minutes later, Galfond was still tanking. Finally, he made the call.

Stein showed {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for eights full of threes and Galfond mucked. He's down to 58,000 while Stein is now on 90,000 in chips.

Brown Counterfeited

Team PokerStars Pro Chad Brown
Team PokerStars Pro Chad Brown

The day of Chad Brown is stuck in second gear as the Team PokerStars Pro just can't seem to get things moving in the right direction today. After being short early today, it looked like Brown was starting to get himself back into this event but he's just taken another hit against Phil Ivey.

With about 17,000 in the pot on a board of {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} Brown fired 7,000 on the river and Ivey made the call. Brown shook his head and revealed {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} as his pair had been counterfeited by the two pair on board. That can happen when you're up against Phil Ivey as he showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} to take it with his ace kicker.

Ivey is at 130,000 with Brown down to 14,000.

Begley Bluffs in the Clutch

Tim Begley
Tim Begley

On the turn, with the board reading {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, Tim Begley fired a bet of roughly 17,000 and was called by Roberto Romanello. The river completed the board with the {10-Spades} and Begley jammed about 35,000. Romanello tanked for ages before eventually mucking his hand. Begley showed the {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for air after missing some draws and moved to 85,000 in chips.

Wong Doubles Through Demjan

All of the money went in on the flop of {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} between Danny Wong and Sandor Demjan. Wong checked, Demjan bet, Wong moved all in for 30,000 and Demjan called.

Demjan had flopped a flush with the {Q-Spades}{7-Spades} and Wong held the {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

The turn brought the {9-Spades} and gave Wong the nut flush. The river was the {3-Clubs}.

Wong doubled to about 70,000 and Demjan dropped to 133,000.

OMG a Straight

Same table, but no one ran to the bathroom during this hand.

With the board reading {7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Spades} on the turn, Juha Helppi checked to Phil Galfond, who bet 12,000. Helppi called. The river was the {8-Spades} and Helppi check-called Galfond's 27,000 bet.

Galfond showed {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the rivered straight and took his stack back up to 108,000. Helppi was left with 29,000.
