Event #7: $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball

Day 1 Started

Get Ready for Some Triple Draw!

Another day is in full swing here at the Rio in Las Vegas for the 2010 World Series of Poker. Of the six events on tap today, one of them is Event No. 7: $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball. Last year, Abe Mosseri won this event, taking home $165,521. Having just missed out on the final table of the $50,000 Players Championship yesterday, it is expected that Mosseri will be back to defend his title in this event.

The field last year was made up of 257 entrants and some notable names had impressive showings, including John Juanda, Julie Schneider, Blair Rodman, Nam Le, and Daniel Negreanu. Play is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m. local time and last eight levels before those that are left bag and tag their chips. PokerNews will be right here on hand as we move forward in wrapping another bracelet around a player's wrist for the 2010 WSOP. Stay tuned!

Bellande Breaks an Eighty-Seven

Jean-Robert Bellande just broke an eighty-seven on his table against David Baker after the two put in three bets after the second draw and Baker stood pat. "If you check now, I'm going to puke," said Bellande after he tossed his eight away. Then, Baker tapped the table and checked. Bellnde's head sunk and he looked confused and disgusted. He then checked behind.

Baker tabled a seventy-six and Bellande patted himself on the back for breaking his good-but-lesser eighty-seven. He wasn't able to draw better and mucked, dropping the pot and slipping to about 6,800 chips.

Bellande Battles Bach

The player in the cutoff seat called and Jean-Robert Bellande made it two bets to play on the button. David Bach raised it to three bets from the small blind and action folded around to Bellande. He raised it again and Bach called.

The action went down as follows:

Bach drew two, two, and one.
Bellande drew one then stood pat.

Bach check-called bets after every draw, mucking when Bellande tabled {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. Bach slipped to 7,100 while Bellande has 7,400.

Nice Early Pot for Seiver

Scott Seiver raised from under the gun and got four callers. The small blind drew two, the big blind drew four, Seiver drew two and then the two players behind him both drew three. After that first draw, the small blind led out, the big blind folded, Seiver raised, the next player folded and then the last player reraised. The small blind and Seiver both called.

Each of the three remaining players drew one card apiece. The small blind then checked, Seiver fired a bet and was called by both players.

On the final draw, the small blind drew one, Seiver stood pat and the next player drew one. Seiver then fired after the draw was complete and no one called him. He was able to pick up the nice pot and moved himself up to about 10,000 chips.
