Williams Has Too Many Full Houses

It's been a good start to the level for David Williams. When we got to the table, Williams was heads up with another player on a flop of {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}. It was checked to Williams, who fired out 1,800. His opponent called, and the turn was the {3-Spades}. His opponent moved all in for his last 2,100, and Williams beat him into the pot.

Williams: {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

WIlliams had fives full of threes, which left his opponent drawing dead. The meaningless river was the {2-Hearts}, causing Williams to say "hey I have another full house!". He didn't need it though, as the original full house played. Williams collected the bounty, and upped his stack to 16,000.

Force Falling Back

Leif Force shot up to a ginormous chip stack in the first two levels of the day, but he has slowly been falling back down to earth since then. We just caught a pot that knocked a few thousand more off his stack. A short stacked opponent got his chips in preflop against Force, and Force was behind.

Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Force: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Force simply let out a playful "boooo" when he saw his opponents hand. Both players had flush draws, but Force's diamonds were better. The flop was a disaster for Force, coming {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. That gave his opponent a set, and left Force looking for running diamonds or a jack. The turn was the {q-Spades}, and the river was the {2-Diamonds}.

Force still has a bunch of chips at 16,000, but it's less then he had a couple of levels ago.

An Orbit with Vanessa Selbst

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante
We tried to catch an orbit with Vanessa Selbst but we may have coolered her.
We tried to catch an orbit with Vanessa Selbst but we may have coolered her.

The daily grind of tournament poker can be a mind-numbing grind that leaves players looking for other entertainment options. To give an inside look for our readers we spent an orbit with Vanessa Selbst.

Hand 1 - Seated in the cutoff she folded preflop. She picked up her iPhone and played a round of Scramble With Friends. She scored 1,004 in a second round match.

Hand 2 - Selbst limps for 200 along with four other players then the big blind moved all in for 900. All other players folded but Selbst called.

Selbst: {J-Spades} {10-Clubs} {9-Spades} {3-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs}

The board ran {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} and Selbst flopped a straight and rivered a queen-high straight ending her opponent's day.

Hand 3 - She folded preflop and went back to her phone. She started a new game of Scramble With Friends.

Hand 4 - Selbst paused her game to fold preflop and watch some of the action. She made some small talk with her neighbor to her left.

Hand 5 - From Under the Gun she folded preflop and went back to her paused game of Scramble With Friends. She finished the round with a score of 1,115.

Hand 6 - From the big blind Selbst checked when one player and the small blind limped preflop. The flop came {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, the small blind checked, Selbst bet 300 and both opponents folded.

Hand 7 - The player on the button opened to 450, Selbst called from small blind and the big blind re-raised to 1,800. The button folded and Selbst thought for a minute and then said, "Okay, let's gamble," and tossed in the call.

The flop came {5-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {4-Spades}, Selbst checked, the big blind moved all in and Selbst called.

Selbst: {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades}
Opponent: {7-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}

Her opponent's straight draw hit on the turn when it fell {3-Spades} and was drawing dead when the river came {Q-Hearts}. Selbst busted from the tournament, packed up her things and left the Brasilia Room without even a sigh.
