Earlier today, Doyle Brunson tweeted that Event 15: $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better would be the first event he'd play at the 2012 World Series of Poker.

TexDolly Doyle Brunson Planning on making my first start in the 5K 8 or better tourney. Probably gonna register late to cut down on the hours. June 06 2012

Well, moments ago he arrived, taking his seat in the Orange Section of the Amazon Room. Brunson doesn't play as many events these days because they're two long, and it's great to see the ten-time bracelet winner in action. Perhaps he can even capture number eleven, and light a fire under Phil Hellmuth for the rest of the series.

He's currently waiting for the next flight of late registrants to start, and will soon have a stack in front of him once again.

Ivey Makes Quads, Scoops Massive Pot

After a series of bets, raises, and re-raised, each player put in a total of five bets preflop. The action checked to Ivey on fourth street, and he tossed out a bet. All three players called. Ivey paired his six on fifth street, and led out. Again, all three of his opponents called.

Pat Pezzin paired his jack on sixth street, and checked. Alexander Kuzmin bet, Ivey just called, and so too did Opponent 2 and Pezzin. On seventh, the action checked to Ivey who fired one more bet out, and everybody called but Pezzin.

Ivey rolled over {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {q-Clubs} for quads, and nobody had a qualifying low, so he scooped the whole pot.

"I needed a six for a straight," Pezzin said after the hand.

"What?" Ivey replied, taking one of his headphones off.

Pezzin repeated himself.

"Oh," Ivey responded, putting his headphones back on.

Kessler tabled {k-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {4-Spades} for a straight and a deuce-to-seven low, and Opponent 1 fanned {a-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} for a flush. The two scooped Opponent 2's chips, and Kessler is now over 20,000.

On seventh street, Joe Tehan checked with his pair of fours showing and Perry Friedman also checked. Allen Bari, bracelet winner from 2011, fired a bet and Tehan called rather quickly. Friedman took a bit longer, but also made the call.

Bari announced that he had a low and showed the {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} from the hole for an eight-six low. He also had a pair of fives, but those were no good against Tehan's {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs} {3-Spades} from the hole for two pair, queens and fours. Friedman mucked his hand and the two others chopped up his money.

2009 WSOP bracelet winner Jerrod Ankenman brought it in with the {2-Diamonds} . 2009 WSOP Player of the Year Jeffrey Lisandro completed with the {a-Diamonds} , a third player called, and so too did Ankenman. The third player paired his eight on fourth street, and bet. Both Ankenman and Lisandro called.

The same occurred on fifth street, but on sixth, the action checked to Ankenman who bet. Both players called. On seventh, the action checked all the way to Lisandro, and it was his turn to bet. Ankenman and the third player called.
