A Chip and a Chair for Seidel

Chris Klodnicki opened to 4,800 from the cutoff, but that's as far as he'd get. Next door, Erik Seidel reraised to 12,000, and action froze on Mike McDonald in the small blind. After a bit of a pause, he announced a pot-raise to 43,200 total. That folded Klodnicki quickly, but Seidel moved all in for just a bit more. McDonald called all in, and the cards were on their backs.

Showdown
Seidel: {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
McDonald: {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} to hold McDonald's aces and give him the pot. The two men began eying up their stacks to see what was what.

"I think you might have me," McDonald offered. "But just by a little bit."

He was right. When the stacks were counted down, Seidel's 52,300 chips were bigger than McDonald's 52,200. "A chip and a chair," someone said. Seidel will have just that lonely black chip with which to try and channel the ghost of Treetop Straus.

Jon Aguiar Eliminated by Patrick Cronin

Patrick Cronin raised to 4,800 in first position, Erik Seidel moved all-in for his chip and a chair (100 chips) and Jon Aguiar moved all-in from the button for 21,700. The table reminded Cronin that the actual raise would be around the 18,000 mark, but Cronin was interested in the true price only. In the end Cronin put in 21,700 and we had a three-way all-in with Aguiar and Seidel at risk of elimination.

Cronin{A-Clubs} {9-Clubs}
Seidel{10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}
Aguiar{K-Hearts} {K-Clubs}

So Aguiar just needed to avoid a plethora of clubs and aces.

Flop: {A-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Clubs}

Aguiar got to his feet and started to pack up. Seidel hadn't moved but his dreams were also disappearing fast.

Turn: {10-Spades}

Seidel hits a set and will quintuple up!

The river card was the {4-Clubs}, Aguiar was eliminated, Seidel now has 500 chips and Cronin has 140,000.

Patrick Cronin Ends Erik Seidels Hopes

Erik Seidel hopes of the amazing comeback have been dashed by Patrick Cronin. Seidel was reduced to just a single 100 chip after losing a massive pot to Mike McDonald. In the next hand Seidel folded that one chip deciding to wait for a better spot. That better spot appeared when he found {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} to quintuplet up through Jon Aguiar and Patrick Cronin. That gave him 500 chips and they went into the pot in the next hand. Both blinds called (including Cronin in the BB) and we were three-way to the flop.

Flop: {8-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}

A bet on the flop by Cronin removed the small blind from the equation and the cards were turned on their backs.

Cronin{3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}
Seidel{K-Diamonds} {5-Spades}

Cronin finds a set and two cards later ({5-Clubs} & {7-Diamonds}) Seidel was out.

Running Like Deeb

Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

From the cutoff seat, Shaun Deeb came in raising to 5,500. Leonid Bilokur was on the button and tapping away furiously on his iPad, and he made a reraise to 12,800. Deeb studied for a long while, asked to see Bilokur's stack, then four-bet to 31,700. Bilokur quickly slid out a tower of his high-value chips totaling 83,800, leaving just a few thousand behind. Deeb shoved in, and the cards were on their backs.

Showdown
Deeb: {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Bilokur: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Deeb seemed perfectly confident in the abilities of the mighty jack-ten. Sure enough, the {7-Hearts} {3-Spades} {3-Hearts} flop gave him a sweat, and the turn {5-Hearts} filled in the flush. Deeb needed to fade another heart to secure the knockout, and the river {8-Clubs} did just that.

Bilokur tipped over a couple chairs on his way out the door, while Deeb has stacked his way up to about 235,000 chips now.

After the hand, Matt Marafioti needled a bit about the light shove.

"Just pretend I called the three-bet and check-shoved the flop," he said with a smirk.

Five Tables

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

We've just reduced our field down to 45 players, and they're now spread across the final five tables in play.

We've still got more than seven levels to play today, and we figure we'll end with about a dozen players or so by the time the clock runs out.

Katz KOs Pritchard

Cary Katz
Cary Katz

We didn't see how the money got in, but Paul Pritchard committed himself with {3-Spades} {4-Spades} on a {6-Spades} {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} flop. He was drawing live for the double as Cary Katz turned over {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}, but he wasn't drawing live for long.

The {A-Clubs} arrived promptly on the turn, and Pritchard was excused one card early. The river was the meaningless {8-Clubs}, and Katz stacks up that pot to move close to 200,000.
