Berry Johnston Meets the Icon

Berry Johnston, who you may know as the winner of the 1986 World Series of Poker Main Event, completed with the {5-} and received a call from Bryan "The Icon" Micon, who was showing {A-} . The latter took the lead on the turn and put out a bet, which Johnston called. The veteran proceeded to call bets on fifth and sixth, but folded when Micon bet on seventh.

Gags Makes Wheel, Busts Doft

Mike "Gags30" Gagliano completed with a five up, Doft called with an ace, and the two were off to fourth street. Doft led out, and Gagliano called. Both players received deuces on fourth, and that's when all the money went in. Doft bet, Gagliano instantly raised, and Doft stuck the remanded of his stack in. Gagliano called.

Doft was dealt a {j-} on fourth, Gagliano a {k-} , and seventh street was dealt facedown. Gagliano turned over a {3-} , giving him a wheel and the nuts, and Doft didn't even look at his last card, knowing that he was drawing dead.

Gagliano is now around 30,000 chips, while our hero Doft is unfortunately eliminated.

Phil Hellmuth asked us if Event 16: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em - Six-Handed had started yet, and we promptly informed him that the final table was set and taking place at the ESPN Main Stage.

"Did Mikey make it?" he asked inquiring about his friend Mike "The Mouth" Matusow. We had to inform him of the unfortunate news that Matusow had busted in eighth place, two spots shy of the final table. "Damn, I just tweeted at him good luck," Hellmuth said.

"He might think that's a needle," he add under his breath.

Unfortunate Turn of Events Sends Williams to the Rail

We caught the action on fifth street when Michael Rosenberg tossed out a bet and received a call from David Williams. The latter took the lead on sixth and proceeded to check-call a bet, doing the same on seventh. Rosenberg then rolled over a to take down the pot and leave Williams with just 1,200.

Johnson's Razz Tournament Comes to an End

Linda Johnson completed with the {4-} only to have David Singer two-bet his {3-} . Johnson made the call and the led out when she took the lead on the turn. Singer not only called that bet, but called bets on fifth and sixth as well. Johnson then slowed down on seventh, opening the door for Singer to bet.

"I got aces up," Johnson said before grabbing her cards and sending them to the muck. That hand knocked her down to just 2,000, which disappeared a short time later.

The 2004 Main Event Champ is Down

Moments after the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up exited the Amazon Room, the champion was right behind him.

Raymer completed with an ace showing, Tehan raised with a three, and Raymer re-raised. Tehan reluctantly called. Raymer led out on fourth street, Tehan called, and on fifth, Raymer led out again. Tehan raised, putting Raymer all in, and Raymer called.

Raymer was dealt a king on fifth, giving him no help, and Tehan received a five, giving him a seventy-five low, and the lead in the hand.

"I really thought I was going to win this hand," Raymer sighed.

Tehan immediately flipped his down card face up on seventh, and the did not improve his hand. Raymer had outs, but another wasn't one of them, and he was eliminated.

We reached the table on fifth street, where Pezzin checked, and Davis bet. Bleznick tank-folded, and Davis called. On sixth, Pezzin check-called another bet, and on seventh, both players knuckled.

Davis fanned {10-} {9-} {3-} for a nine-low, and Pezzin mucked.

After the hand, "Miami" John Cernuto stopped by to say hello to Sam Grizzle, and commented on how tough Davis plays.

"Him??" Grizzle spat. "He couldn't win the tournament if he started with a million chips."
