Baxaments

Ivan Asenov opened to 1,200 from under the gun, Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy called in the hijack seat, and the rest of the players folded. The dealer fanned {4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, and Asenov led out for 2,000. Josephy grabbed an orange T5,000 chip and announced, "Forty-eight hundred,"

Asenov tanked for the better part of a minute, then folded the {a-Spades} face up. Bax, who was looking down when Asenov folded, tabled only the {2-Spades}.

"You showed an ace?" he asked Asenov. "I thought I was good."

Ivey Takes Three in a Row

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Action folded to the player in the hijack seat and he raised to 875. Phil Ivey called on the button and the flop came down {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}. The hijack seat checked and Ivey bet 1,300. His opponent called.

On the {10-Hearts} turn, both players checked to see the {4-Clubs} land on the river. After his opponent checked, Ivey bet 4,000. His opponent mulled it over and then called. Ivey showed the {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair, tens and nines, and won the pot.

On the next hand, action folded to Ivey in the cutoff seat and he raised to 900. Phil Collins called from the small blind and the flop came down {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

Collins and Ivey also checked the {J-Clubs} turn card and {5-Diamonds} river card. Collins announced ace high, but Ivey showed the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Collins mucked his hand.

On the next hand after that, Ivey raised to 1,000 from the hijack seat and David Grey called from the big blind to see the flop come down {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Grey checked and Ivey bet 1,200. Grey folded and Ivey took his third in a row.

Thanks to these three back-to-back-to-back pots, Ivey has moved over 20,000 in chips.

Mordue Doubles After Strange Call

On the {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, James Mordue was all in for a few thousand with his opponent in the tank. While his opponent was tanking, Mordue turned over one card and showed the {10-Clubs} for at least top pair. His opponent tanked for a bit longer, commenting about how he felt he was in really bad shape, but the odds were still pretty good to make the call.

Eventually, the player made the call and Mordue turned over his other card to reveal the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. "Ahhh, you got me in really bad shape," his opponent said before turning over the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

The turn and river completed the board with the {Q-Clubs} and {7-Clubs} to allow Mordue to double up.

Finne Busts One

Tim Finne just busted a player to move to 45,000 in chips after his pocket tens held up against his opponent's {A-}{Q-}. The two got the money all in preflop as the board ran out king high with no help to his opponent.
