Elezra Eliminates a Combined 17 WSOP Bracelets

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Artie Cobb on Day 1.
Artie Cobb on Day 1.

Artie Cobb: {x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{k-Diamonds} / {x-}
Eli Elezra: {x-}{x-} / {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{X-} / {X-}
Phil Hellmuth: {x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{X-} / {x-}

An combined 17 bracelets were just eliminated from the tournament in a single hand. That's because Eli Elezra just eliminated Phil Hellmuth (13 bracelets) and Artie Cobb (4 bracelets) here in Level 10. You're no doubt familiar with Hellmuth, but if Cobb is not known to you, we recommend you check out the profile we did on him on Day 1.

In the big hand, a short-stacked Hellmuth was all in on third after Cobb completed and Elezra called. Elezra then called a bet on fourth and Cobb got the last of his chips in on fifth. We missed the sixth-street cards for Elezra and Hellmuth, but it didn't matter as they had no influence on the hand.

Cobb: {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{X-}
Elezra: {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{X-}
Hellmuth: {2-}{2-}{4-}

Elezra ended up showing tens and sevens, which bested Hellmuth deuces and fives. It was also good against Cobb, who mucked without showing his final card. Elezra scooped the healthy pot and sent both Cobb and Hellmuth to the rail.

Noori Loses a Flip to Bust

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Phil Hellmuth: {x-}{x-} / {j-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} / {x-}
Scott Abrams: {x-}{x-} / {k-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{a-Spades} / {x-}
Michael Noori: {x-}{x-} / {2-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Spades} / {x-}

We caught the action on fourth street where Noori was already all in. Hellmuth check-raised Adams, who called, and both players checked on fifth street. On sixth, Abrams led out, Hellmuth called, and both players knuckled on seventh.

Hellmuth showed {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} then angrily turned over the {4-Spades} for an air ball.

"How is that possible?" he sighed. "There are no clubs on board."

Abrams flipped over {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for aces and kings, and Noori tabled his first two down cards, the {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. He then peeled his last card slowly, to sweat it.

"No across club!" he said excitedly.

There are only three clubs with no sides - or are "no across" as Noori put it - the {a-Clubs}, {2-Clubs}, and {3-Clubs}. Since Hellmuth already had the ace, it meant that Noori was basically flipping to scoop the main pot and triple up, because the {3-Clubs} would give him trip threes.

Unfortunately for him, he lost the flip as he turned over the {2-Clubs}, and was eliminated. Abrams scooped the pot, and now sits with 28,000 chips. Hellmuth is back down to 7,000.

Ryan Miller: {x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} / {x-}
Ralph Perry: {x-}{x-} / {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} / {x-}

We caught the action on fourth street, where Miller bet out and Perry raised. Miller called. Three bets went in on fifth street, and Perry was all in on sixth.

Miller: {6-Spades}{3-Spades}
Perry: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Perry was drawing dead, and didn't even look at his seventh card. Miller flipped over the {a-Spades}.

Double Duty for Mercier

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Up until yesterday, Jason Mercier had failed to make a single Day 2. Then last night, while playing both this event and Event #12: $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em, he suddenly found himself bagging up in two different tournaments.

While Mercier had to bounce from the Amazon Room to the Pavilion yesterday (which is a little bit of a hike), today he's got it made as both tournaments are happening in the Purple Section of the Amazon Room.

Mercier is already in the money in Event #12, and only time will tell if he can go two for two.

Six-Six-Six for Negreanu

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Brian Hastings: {x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} (FOLD)
Paul Volpe: {x-}{x-} / {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Daniel Negreanu: {x-}{x-} / {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Hastings brought it in, Volpe completed, and both Negreanu and Hastings called. On fourth street, Negreanu and Hastings both checked to Volpe, who bet. The two players called.

Negreanu made trips on fifth street, Volpe a pair of aces, and Volpe opted to check. Negreanu bet, Hastings folded, and Volpe called.

Negreanu led out, and Volpe folded.
