Lieu Sends Most of His Stack

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We did not get the action but we saw Lieu's opponents cards of {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flipped up and a board of {3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} on the table. Lieu lost the hand and sent over 55,000 to his opponent. Lieu went down to a short stack of 18,000.

Cantu Quick to Table Tens

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Just before the break Brandon Cantu and Michael Rocco clashed in a pot with a little bit of banter afterwards. Rocco won the pot but Cantu wasn't to eager to show his hand in that pot.

Just now they battled it out again but this time they both were eager to show their hands. Brandon Cantu opened to 5,500 from the hijack/under the gun plus one position and Michael Rocco made it 16,600 from the button. After Erick Lindgren and Daniel Negreanu folded their blinds, Cantu inquired about the size of Rocco's stack. Rocco lifted up his arms and Cantu knew enough: all in. Rocco called instantly and they had to table their hands:

Michael Rocco{A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Brandon Cantu{10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out as followed: {9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades} | {5-Hearts} | {7-Clubs}.

"One of these days, I'll hit," Rocco said.

"Not today!" Cantu snap replied as he started stacking the chips.

Waxman Always Wanted to Do That

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jason Mercier - Eliminated
Jason Mercier - Eliminated

Matt Waxman opened to 3,200 out of the cutoff, Jason Mercier moved all in for 23,800 in the big blind, and Waxman called.

Waxman: {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Mercier: {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}

Waxman had Mercier dominated, and remained ahead when the flop fell {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The {9-Clubs} turned, giving Waxman two pair, but Mercier could chop the pot if the river brought a ten, because both players would have aces and tens with a nine kicker. The {k-Clubs} on the river changed nothing though, and Mercier was eliminated.

"I've always wanted to knock Jason Mercier out of a tournament," Waxman said, grinning after the hand.

Salsberg Peaks; Hanks Peaces

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Matt Salsberg
Matt Salsberg

Matt Salsberg was first to act, and he open-shoved for 16,700. Brent Hanks re-shoved for 20,500 in the cutoff, and the rest of the players folded.

Salsberg: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Hanks: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Salsberg held as the board came {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, doubling to 34,000 chips. After the hand, Salsberg said that it is his peak for the tournament.

Meanwhile, Hanks was short, and was all in a few hands later with {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. He was dominated by an opponent's {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and the sevens held as the board rolled out {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

Sabat Doubles

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Eddy Sabat was all in for 18,800 just now with the pocket rockets/American Airlines/Weapons of Mass Destruction: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. His opponent had not to bad a hand himself: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. The board was kept clean of kings though, so Sabat would double: {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} | {5-Spades} | {A-Hearts}.

Two Down

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We are now two players away from the money. Fort Lauderdale's Josh Hillock eliminated one player preflop holding {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} against {a-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The player made a pair of aces when the dealer fanned {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Clubs}, but the {3-Clubs} gave Hillock an unbeatable flush. The {6-Diamonds} completed the board, and the player was eliminated.

On an adjacent table, another player busted with unknown action.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

THe shuffle machines are now being used so the tournament will just a little bit quicker. It's almost bubble though, so that might slow it down again a bit.
