Harwood Misses Everything

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante

We walked up to Loni Harwood's table to see her and another short stack get all his money in preflop.

Harwood: {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Both players had monster hands that were suited and well connected, but it didn't look good for Harwood after the flop came down {j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Both players had heart draws, but Harwood's was inferior to her opponent's. However, she picked up her gin card on the turn, the {k-Diamonds}. This gave her a ton of straight draw outs, as a queen, ten, or nine would complete her straight, and a king would give her winning trips. However, the {7-Spades} didn't complete any of those outs, and she shipped the pot over to her opponent.

Sands Picks Up Three Quarters

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante
David Sands
David Sands

David "Doc" Sands was part of a three way flop that read {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. The first opponent checked to the second, who fired out 3,000. Sands tanked for a bit before stacking up a big raise of about 12,000, and sliding it in. The first player quickly folded, and the second called off the rest of his stack, which was about 8,000.

Sands: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Opponent: {5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The set for Sands was dominating his opponent, and he was in great shape to pick up most of the pot. The {8-Diamonds} on the turn gave his opponent flush draw outs to go along with the case ace, but nietherme came on the river, as that card was the {7-Clubs}. Sands ended up picking up three quarters of the pot, as both players shared the same low.

After picking up that one, Sands is up to 34,000.

Matusow Looking for Another Bracelet

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Mike Matusow has had a resurgence of sorts this year. After laying low for the past few years, Matusow came roaring back earlier this year when he won the NBC Heads Up Championship, beating his good friend Phil Hellmuth in the finals. He rode that to a bracelet win in Event #13 $5,000 Seven-Card-Stud Hi-Low Eight-or-better just two weeks ago, and has three top 18 finishes total. Well Omaha-8 is Matusow's best game according to him, and he's certainly showing that today, as he has amassed an impressive stack of 33,000, which is one of the biggest ones in the room at the moment.
