Cunningham Adds Some of Koren's Mush to His Stack

Level 11 : 0/0, 600 ante
Allen Cunningham late into Day 1
Allen Cunningham late into Day 1

Artur Koren made a bet on a board of {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Allen Cunningham decided to raise it to 9,000. Koren then asked how much Cunningham had.

Koren asked, "About 30 or 40?"

Cunningham responded, "Mush."

With that Koren decided to call. They then saw an {a-Spades} on the turn. Both players wanted to check and they did. The river was the {k-Diamonds}. This brought a finger tough check by Cunningham. Koren did not want to check, he wanted to bet an amount of 14,000. Cunningham had three options and he chose to check-raise to 30,000.

Koren needing to call only 14,000 more tanked for three minutes. He eventually sighed and mucked his hand.

The loss took Koren down to 50,000. Cunningham added more mush to his stack with over 110,000 in chips.

Hinkle With the Double KO

Level 12 : 0/0, 800 ante
Blair Hinkle (earlier in the series)
Blair Hinkle (earlier in the series)

The action started with Blair Hinkle bringing in, as three others joined in. Ray Villaman threw out the first bet for 1,800, before Chad Eveslage raised it up to 6,000. It seemed like everyone wanted to get involved, as Barny Boatman then opted to raise once more to 15,600 in chips.

With the decision back on Hinkle, he tanked for a few minutes, before moving all in for 39,500, covering all players involved in the hand. The first two limpers folded, as Rory Duncan committed his remaining short-stack in, as did Eveslage, for 36,800. Boatman had a tough decision, but with all the action around him, he opted to fold.

Hinkle: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Duncan: {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Eveslage: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

“I folded {A-}{k-},” said Boatman, as the board proceeded to run out {3-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, to see Hinkle bust out two players, as he rises up to 115,000 in chips.

Nassif Stuck in Reverse

Level 12 : 0/0, 800 ante
Gabriel Nassif
Gabriel Nassif

Gabriel Nassif is stuck in reverse during the first two levels of play today. He started with one of the largest stacks but now has treaded down to 27,000.

We did not catch all the hands he was involved in but we did see him call a large bet on the flop of {2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. On the turn his opponent moved all in. Nassif released his hand and moved to one of the shortest stacks in the room. He has an uphill battle to climb if he wants to avenge his second place finish in Event 37 $5,000 Limit Hold'em.

Idema Busts

Level 12 : 0/0, 800 ante
Daniel Idema (during Event #39)
Daniel Idema (during Event #39)

We just spotted Daniel Idema raise for around 8,000 in chips, leaving himself with one 100-chip behind. Adam Stone then opted to raise all in for 22,700, before Paul Lieu looked like he wanted to get involved as well. He thought about his decision for over a minute, before making the call, as everyone else folded back around to Idema, who committed his last chip.

Idema: {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Stone: {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Lieu: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

“Well that’s going to make it tough for me,” said Idema, as the flop came out {3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, giving Stone top-two pair. The board ran out the {2-Clubs} and {9-Diamonds} to see Stone more than double up, as Idema was sent to the rail.

This was Idema’s fifth cash in this year’s WSOP, adding to an already dominant summer that saw him collect a second WSOP bracelet in Event #39 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo.

Vamplew Eliminates Singer

Level 12 : 0/0, 800 ante

David Singer was ahead preflop when he got his stack in with {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}. His opponent held {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The flop did not come kindly to Singer as it came {8-Hearts}{10-Spades}{a-Spades}. The flopped two pair for Vamplew now gave worry to Singer. The turn {9-Spades} gave more outs to Singer. The river was the {4-Diamonds}. That officially ended the day for Singer. Vamplew was the beneficiary and jumped up to 180,000.
