Katching a Royal Flush

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov checked to John Juanda on a flop of {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and the fellow WSOP bracelet winner tossed out a bet of 5,000 - roughly a third of the pot.

Katchalov moved all in, making it 42,600 to go and Juanda made the call.

Katchalov: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Juanda: {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Katchalov had Juanda in rough shape and added a flush draw on the turn ({k-Spades}). The {a-Spades} on the river not only completed the Ukrainian's flush draw, it gave him a royal flush.

Katchalov, who is going to skip most of the WSOP to film a television show in Ukraine, doubled to over 100,000 chips, while Juanda dropped down to 165,000.

Julius Takes on Gross; Lucky Chewy Gone

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Jeff Gross opened for 7,000 under the gun and was met by an all-in three-bet to 68,600 by Kyle Julius in the hijack. Action folded back to Gross and he hemmed and hawed before making the call.

Gross: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Julius: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

It was a flip and Gross was looking good to eliminate a tough opponent on the {7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. The {4-Hearts} turn kept Gross in the lead, but then the dealer delivered the {A-Spades} on the river. Gross shook his head up and down and then said, "That's the hand I lost with the second before I came here."

Meanwhile, Andrew Lichtenberger was eliminated by Aaron Jones shortly after the aforementioned hand.

Schulman Doubles with Quads

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Nick Schulman got his stack of 75,000 or so all in preflop holding the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and was up against the {a-}{q-} of Galen Hall. The {3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop gave Schulman a set, but it also delivered Hall a Broadway draw. However, Schulman didn't have to worry about it after the turn, since the {10-Hearts} gave him quads!

The {8-Spades} was put out on the river for good measure and Schulman was shipped the double.

Mizrachi Bleeding Chips

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Michael Mizrachi began the day with a big stack, but in the past two levels he's done nothing but give them away.

Most recently, Mizrachi opened for 7,000 from the button and then called when Chris Moore three-bet to 17,000 from the small blind. Both players checked the {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop and Moore led out for 15,000 on the {A-Diamonds} turn. Mizrachi min-raised to 30,000, Moore called and it was off to the {J-Hearts} river.

Moore returned to checking and Mizrachi wasted little time in firing out 45,000. Moore only had 49,300 total and committed it, which Mizrachi called. Moore rolled over the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a full house, and Mizrachi simply shook his head and flashed an ace.

Check-Raising the River

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Mike Brady checked to Sam Trickett on a flop of {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and the BIG ONE for ONE DROP runner-up tossed out a bet of 9,000. Brady called.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, both players checked and the {6-Clubs} completed the board. Brady checked a third and final time, Trickett bet 13,000 and Brady check-raised to 13,000. Trickett considered the bet for a bit, then folded.

With the board reading {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, Al Decarolis (cutoff) and Vanessa Selbst (small blind) went back and forth before Decarolis ended up all in for 118,500 with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} against Selbst's {A-Spades}{10-Spades}. The {9-Hearts} river was no help to Selbst, locking up the double for Decarolis.

Big Slick Does the Trickett

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Fabrice Touil opened for 8,500 under the gun and cleared the field all the way around to Sam Trickett in the big blind. Trickett announced that he was all in for 50,800, and Touil thought for about a minute before making the call.

Touil: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Trickett: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Touil was drawing to two live cards, but he failed to find any help as the board ran out {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Eyster Devoured by Busquet

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Kevin Eyster
Kevin Eyster

Kevin Eyster got his stack of 70,000 or so all in preflop and was flipping against Olivier Busquet.

Eyster: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Busquet: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Eyster got it in good, but the {k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop was disaster for him as Busquet found a pair of kings. The {9-Diamonds} turn meant Eyster needed an eight to stay alive, but it wasn't in the cards as the {6-Hearts} blanked.

"Good game guys," were his final words before he exited the tournament area.
