Bonomo Puts Chidwick To The Test

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Justin Bonomo limped from the cutoff as did Joao Vieira in the small blind. Stephen Chidwick checked his option out of the big blind to generate three-way action heading to the flop.

Both blinds checked on the {2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop and Bonomo led out for 60,000. Vieira folded while Chidwick called to see a turn.

The turn came {q-Spades} and Chidwick checked for a second time. Bonomo was in no mood to slow down and pushed 250,000 into the middle. Chidwick was not yet convinced and again called.

Chidwick checked one more time after the {j-Spades} river and Bonomo moved almost all in for 395,000, leaving himself just 5,000 behind. Chidwick burned through a couple of time extensions before deciding to release his hand, sending a large pot Bonomo's direction.

Chris Hunichen Eliminated in 15th Place ($80,000)

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Chris Hunichen
Chris Hunichen

Lander Lijo opened to 125,000 from middle position and Chris Hunichen moved all in from the cutoff. Sean Perry then called off with the shorter stack on the button while Lijo also called to put both of his opponents at risk.

Sean Perry: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Chris Hunichen: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Lander Lijo: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Perry found himself in a dream scenario, picking up rockets at precisely the right time to position himself well for a triple up. That is exactly what happened following the {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} runout, sending the main pot Perry's direction while Lijo collected the sidepot to eliminate Hunichen in 15th.

Jonathan Little Eliminated in 16th Place ($80,000)

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Jonathan Little
Jonathan Little

With the board reading {k-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades} Jonathan Little in the small blind was all in and at risk against Stephen Chidwick from the cutoff. Chidwick held {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} which was good enough to send Little out of the tournament in 16th place, a result good for $80,000.

Koray Aldemir Eliminated in 17th Place ($80,000)

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

Shortly after the bubble burst, Koray Aldemir shoved his final 455,000 into the middle from the button and was called by Lander Lijo in the big blind.

Koray Aldemir: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Lander Lijo: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Aldemir was still ahead with his pocket fives.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs} and Lijo was left drawing to his six overcard outs.

The {a-Spades} spiked the river, giving Lijo a pair of aces and eliminating the 2021 World Series of Poker Main Event champion.

Smith Bursts Bubble

Level 16 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Brian Rast opened to 125,000 from under the gun and was three-bet to 305,000 by Dan Smith one seat over. Rast made the call to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

Rast checked on a flop of {6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Smith continued for 225,000. After some thought, Rast just called.

The {3-Diamonds} turn saw Rast check for a second time and Smith, after burning through one time extension, fire off 525,000. Rast responded by moving all in and Smith snap called with the effective stack.

Dan Smith: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Brian Rast: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

Smith was in terrible shape, needing to a hit a two outer to survive. No miracle came on the {3-Hearts} river, sending him out of the tournament on the pure bubble. All remaining players are guaranteed at least $80,000.

Colpoys Eliminates Seiver

Level 15 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Scott Seiver moved all in for his last 385,000 from middle position and Dan Colpoys re-jammed out of the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and Seiver was officially at risk.

Scott Seiver: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Dan Colpoys: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Seiver was behind but had two live cards. Unfortunately for him he was unable to improve on the {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} runout, sending him out of the tournament two spots off the money.
