Color Up Break

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The players are on their last 15 minute break of the day as the 100 denomination chips are being colored up after which registration will be closed.

Bonomo Busts Touil

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Justin Bonomo: {5-}{4-} / {6-}{9-}{8-}{10-} / {5-}
Samuel Touil: {4-}{3-} / {J-}{K-}{5-}{7-} / {X-}
Stephen Chidwick: {A-}{2-} / {5-}{J-}{6-}{6-} / {10-}

On fifth street, Bonomo bet and both of his opponets called.

On sixth street, Bonomo went all in, Touil called all in for less and Chidwick called going for the double knockout.

Bonomo's nine low held on for the win as Touil mucked and was eliminated while Chidwick could only muster a ten low.

Hellmuth Finished Early

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth has had plenty of success in razz in recent years, winning this very event in 2015 and also taking down a bracelet in a $2,500 event in 2012, but he won't be adding the 2017 Razz Championship to his trophy case.

Down to his last 10,000 or so, Hellmuth got in there on fifth street against James Chen.

Hellmuth: {k-}{5-}/{3-}{3-}{8-}
Chen: {2-}{4-}/{a-}{5-}{10-}

"You didn't have much," Hellmuth joked.

Hellmuth got another king right away, while Chen turned over a seven, ending the hand there. Hellmuth told everyone good game on his way out the door.

Hellmuth Hems and Haws

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Viacheslav Zhukov: {X-}{X-} / {A-}{Q-}{J-} fold
Russell Clayton: {X-}{X-} / {3-}{4-}{J-}{2-} / {X-}
Phil Hellmuth: {X-}{X-} / {6-}{6-}{5-}{A-} / {X-}

Zhukov completed, Clayton called, Hellmuth raised and both of his opponents called.

On fourth street, Clayton led out and both of his opponents called.

The action was the same on fifth street except Zhukov folded.

Clayton bet again on sixth and Hellmuth called again.

Both players checked seventh and Clayton turned over {A-}{10-}{9-} for a nine low. Hellmuth kept his cards for a bit, rechecked them, mumbled some words to himself and eventually mucked.

Chidwick Takes Big Pot

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Justin Bonomo bet fifth street and faced significant action as Samuel Touil raised and Stephen Chidwick cold-called. Bonomo decided to call, and they saw sixth street.

Bonomo: {x-}{x-}/{6-}{8-}{8-}{3-}
Touil: {x-}{x-}/{q-}{7-}{3-}{a-}
Chidwick: {x-}{x-}/{9-}{a-}{10-}{3-}

Everyone checked, and Chidwick put in a bet on the end. Only Bonomo called. Chidwick showed {8-}{5-}{2-} for an eight-five and took the pot.

Clements Doubles Through Duong

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Scott Clements put his last few thousand in on the final bet, and Jack Duong was considering a call.

Clements: {x-}{x-}/{8-}{k-}{5-}{3-}/{x-}
Duong: {x-}{x-}/{4-}{10-}{j-}{3-}/{x-}

Duong did decide to call, and Clements tabled {7-}{2-}{q-} for an eight-seven. Duong mucked, and the dealer revealed what looked like an {a-} and a {7-} along with another unknown card.

Bart Hanson
Bart Hanson

James Chen bet into Bart Hanson on fourth but then paired up on fifth, and Hanson took the betting lead from there on the next two streets.

Chen: {x-}{x-}/{4-}{8-}{8-}{q-}
Hanson: {x-}{x-}/{3-}{10-}{5-}{7-}

Hanson had barely over a bet remaining on seventh and checked, but Chen checked back and couldn't beat Hanson's {a-}{7-}{5-} for a ten-seven low.

Vieira Doubles Through Sternheimer

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Philip Sternheimer completed with a {6-}, and Joao Vieira raised with a {2-} from late position. Sternheimer called, and then called again on fourth before putting Vieira in on fifth.

Sternheimer: {a-}{5-}/{6-}{4-}{8-}
Vieira: {4-}{5-}/{2-}{3-}{6-}

Both players had made their hands, but Vieira had the lead with a six. Sternheimer would need to catch a three or deuce to take the lead, but it went {j-}, {7-} for him and Vieira won without improvement.
