Stop. Press. Matusow Wins Showdown

"It's incredible," boomed Matusow, thus enticing me towards the table, "I won a pot at showdown."

As I made my way towards the felt, notepad in hand, I caught sight of a {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board festering on the baize, with The Mouth's {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} squashing whatever four-card holding his opponent mucked.

Then all was revealed...

"A-4-5-6 is not a good hand against someone who has double raised," he commented.

"It's a great feeling when you have your opponent drawing dead," he continued, before singing "I... won... a... showdown."

The singing was enough to signal my exit, leaving Matusow to construct his newly acquired stack of 30,000.

Boatman Folds to Boat

With the board reading {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Diamonds}, Sherkhan Farnood fired out a bet of 7,000 into an already meaty pot. Boatman - who, I imagine, either had the nut straight or a weak full house - dwellt for a good few minutes, counting out his chips whilst mulling over his decision.

"I can't look," said the Afghan bracelet winner as he covered his eyes. "Why?" inquired Boatman. "'Cos you read too good."

In the end, Boatman made the fold. Fahrnood showed the {9-Diamonds}. "You want more?" he asked the table before revealing {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} with a mischievous smile.

Boatman down to around 20,000.
