Nice to Meet You Mister Ryynanen

Jussi Ryynanen
Jussi Ryynanen

He must have won some pots before this hand, but Jussi Ryynanen just jumped into the chip lead by a clear margin. The action started when Michael Mizrachi limped for 1,600 and Jason Mercier called. Roger Hairabedian called as well after which Ryynanen made it 10,400 from the button. Only Mizrachi called.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Mizrachi check-called 14,100. On the turn the {2-Diamonds} hit and once again Mizrachi checked. Ryynanen counted out a 38,600-chip bet, but Mizrachi didn't seen impressed. He called creating a huge pot with the river still to come.

On the river the {4-Diamonds} hit and Mizrachi quickly checked again. Ryynanen gathered three big stacks of yellow chips before sliding out a total bet of 70,500. Mizrachi wanted to know how much the Finnish player had behind, and by the looks if it he had an additional 70,000.

After tanking for well over a minute Mizrachi folded. and Ryynanen took down this big pot. Mizrachi still has a lot of chips to work with, but he's now way behind Ryynanen.

Gerin Gone

We found Stephan Gerin all in on a flop of {J-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Gerin's all in was called by Michel Abecassis and Michael Mizrachi.

With any further action going into a side pot, the three players saw the {4-Clubs} come on the turn. Mizrachi tapped the table and Abecassis checked behind.

The {9-Hearts} came on the river and Mizrachi checked once again. Abecassis bet 8,000 and Mizrachi quickly let his hand go.

Abecassis showed {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered set of nines. An upset Gerin threw his hand on the table, showing {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a hand that was winning until the river. Unfortunately, Gerin was forced to settle for 15th place as Abecassis absorbed what was once his chip stack.

Mizrachi Hurts Mercier

Michael Mizrachi raised to 3,500 from the cutoff and Jason Mercier called on the button. Both blinds folded and the flop brought out {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

On the turn the {10-Hearts} showed up, and Mizrachi checked again. Mercier threw out 4,300 and quickly Mizrachi raised it up to 16,000. After about ten seconds Mercier called.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and almost immediately Mizrachi announced a pot-sized bet. Mercier hesitated for a while, but eventually folded. Mizrachi showed {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{X-} and made sure everyone knew he wasn't messing around.

Sointula Done in 16th

Four players just saw a flop on which Jason Mercier was the first to check from the small blind. The flop read {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Jani Sointula bet 12,500 from the big blind. Jussi Ryynanen was under the gun and he tank-folded.

Michael Mizrachi was on the button, and he put in a raise to 25,000. Mercier folded his small blind and Sointula committed his final 3,500 chips.

Showdown:
Jani Sointula: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Michael Mizrachi: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds} and {7-Diamonds} giving Mizrachi the win. Sointula was left empty handed as we are down to 15 players.

Azor Ran Over by Selbst

Ran Azor Ran Over by Selbst
Ran Azor Ran Over by Selbst

"Alright, I'm all in," said Vanessa Selbst.

Her proclamation echoed throughout the tournament room and caused heads to turn at the other table.

We found Selbst heads up in a pot with Ran Azor. The board read {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and after a series of bets and raises, Selbst moved Azor all in for his tournament life. Azor shuffled chips and threw his head back and forth as he pondered making a huge call for his tournament a mere five spots from the money. Eventually, Azor relented and announced a call. He showed {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for bottom set.

Unfortunately for Azor, Selbst flipped up {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for a bigger set, and Azor was drawing slim to stay alive.

The {a-Clubs} completed the board and Selbst was able to send Azor out of the tournament area. With that win she is sitting on a stack of 184,000 and is the current chip leader in the room.

Mattila Hands Out Another Double Up

Ville Mattila
Ville Mattila

It has not been Ville Mattila's level as he just doubled up Roger Hairabedian. On the turn the board read {K-Spades}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and both Hairabedian and Jussi Nevanlinna checked to Mattila.

Mattila asked the dealer how much the pot was, and he announced it was 32,400. The Fin bet 25,000, and the action was on Hairabedian.

"I'm all in," the Frenchman said after Nevanlinna quickly folded. Mattila seemed displeased but ended up calling for a total of 62,500.

Showdown:
Roger Hairabedian: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Ville Mattila: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The river was the {6-Spades} giving Hairabedian the double up. He is now one of the chip leaders while Mattila is knocked far down.

Mizrachi Back in the Lead

On a {4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{4-Hearts} board Michael Mizrachi just called a 12,400-chip bet from Stephan Gerin. The river brought out the {6-Spades} and this time Gerin checked.

"35,000," Mizrachi quickly announced as he flicked in the chips.

Gerin tanked for quite some time, but eventually he made the call. Mizrachi turned over {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and with a full house he took down this pot.

Mizrachi is back in the lead while Gerin took a big hit. He is now one of the shortest stacks.

Selbst Doubles Through Mattila

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Vanessa Selbst opened to 4,000 only to find Ville Mattila three-bet to 16,000. It folded back to Selbst and she called.

"How much do you have behind?" asked Mattila

"Like thirty," replied Selbst.

The dealer brought out a flop of {8-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Selbst checked. Mattila announced a pot sized bet and Selbst quickly said all in for her last 33,500, prompting the two to turn over their hands.

Selbst: {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Mattila: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The turn was the {10-Clubs}, giving Selbst two pair. The river completed with the {4-Diamonds} and Selbst's hand was ultimately the best one, awarding her a nice double up that brought her to roughly 100,000 in chips.

Mizrachi and Fitoussi Chop Abecassis' Money

We got to the table in time to see Michael Mizrachi, Bruno Fitoussi, and Michel Abecassis all commit 21,800 before the flop.

The dealer brought forth {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Mizrachi wasted no time announcing that he was all in as he had both of his opponents covered in chips. Fitoussi replied by calling all in for his tournament life. Abecassis got out of the way and the hands were shown to find that Mizrachi was ahead.

Mizrachi: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Fitoussi: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The turn was the {A-Spades}, which gave Fitoussi additional spade outs, but the {4-Diamonds} peeled off on the river, giving both players the wheel and forcing them to chop the pot.
