Jachtmann Grinding the Short Stack

We found Jan-Peter Jachtmann all in before the flop for his last 3,600 and was called by Michel Abecassis from the big blind.

Abecassis: {J-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Jachtmann: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The board ran out {J-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Jachtmann was able to take it down with his two pair of kings and sixes. While this double up was a step in the right direction, Jachtmann is still the shortest stack in the room.

Hairabedian Takes Some From Mizrachi

With the board reading {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Michael Mizrachi checked to Roger Hairabedian who tossed out a bet of 4,000. Mizrachi opted to check-raise and Hairabedian called.

The river was the {A-Diamonds} and Mizrachi wasted no time throwing a bet of 12,000 into the center.

Hairabedian pondered his action for a while before asking the dealer to spread the pot.

"A lot of money in there," said Mizrachi who sat staring at Hairabedian with his head resting on his hand.

Eventually, Hairabedian called and showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs} for a flush.

"Good call," remarked Mizrachi, who flung his hand into the muck.

Selbst Takes Care of Cazals

Vanessa Selbst had just eliminated French pro Aubin Cazals, and she was kind enough to tell us what happened. Selbst raised to 2,500 from the hijack after which Cazals made it 9,300 from the cutoff. Selbst called.

The flop brought out {8-}{5-}{2-} and Selbst put Cazals all in for his final 6,300. The Frenchman called it off and showed {A-Spades}{A-}{6-Spades}{6-}, and he was up against {9-}{7-}{7-}{2-} double suited.

The turn was a {K-} and the river a {6-} giving Selbst a straight. Cazals, who won the $5,000 Mixed Max bracelet this past summer was knocked out while Selbst added some more chips to her stack. She is going for her second bracelet this year after winning the $2,500 10-Game.

Jan-Peter Jachtmann
Jan-Peter Jachtmann

Right after losing Aubin Cazals we also had to say goodbye to $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha winner Jan-Peter Jachtmann. Jani Sointula raised under the gun to 2,700 after which Jachtmann moved all in for just 6,000 chips. The action was folded back around to Sointula who called right away.

Showdown:
Jani Sointula: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Jan-Peter Jachtmann: {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{J-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Jachtmann was knocked out. We are down to 18 players and there will be a full redraw at this point.

Kings In The Corning

We found four players looking down at a flop of {K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{8-Spades}. Ran Azor checked to Micah Smith who also checked. Douglas Corning fired 7,000 and Joe Hachem got out of the way.

Azor called the bet and Smith decided to stick around as well to see the {3-Hearts} fall on fourth. There were two checks to Smith once again and this time he moved 25,000 into the middle. Azor got out of the way and Smith looked Corning up and down before announcing that he was all in, which actually was a bet for Corning's tournament life. Corning was all in for a total of 63,000.

Corning quickly called and showed {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for top set. Smith sighed and tabled {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

The {2-Clubs} completed the board and Corning was able to scoop a massive double up.

Straight For Mercier

We caught up to find Jason Mercier and Sam Chartier looking down at a board that read {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Mercier bet 8,900 and Chartier quickly dipped into his stack and came out with calling chips.

The dealer tapped the table and brought forth the {8-Hearts} to complete the board. Mercier pondered for a moment before checking and Chartier checked behind.

"Straight," announced Mercier, tabling {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Chartier mucked his hand and Mercier dragged in the pot, bringing his stack just shy of the hundred thousand mark.

Joe Hachem is in strong contention with just 17 players left after he just knocked out Micah Smith. The 2005 WSOP Main Event champion raised pre flop and was called by Ran Azor and Smith, who was in the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Smith checked to Hachem who bet 4,500. Azor folded and Smith raised all in for right around 17,000. Hachem called.

Micah Smith: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

The turn was the {6-Spades} and Hachem hit his full house. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Smith was knocked out.
