That's it for Day 2 of the €50,000 Majestic High Roller at the 2012 World Series of Poker Europe. It was a long day on the felt resulting in another early-morning finish, but one that was very exciting. When things were all wrapped up, John Juanda led the pack with 2.596 million in chips.

Plenty of big names began the day still in contention for the title, and there were even a few late entrants. Both Phil Ivey and Jonathan Duhamel were two of the players to enter at the beginning of the day, and overall the field size grew to 60 total entries (49 players and 11 rebuys). Daniel Negreanu, Sam Trickett and Tony G were some of the others returning to action on Day 2.

All five of those players just mentioned failed to make to through to Day 3, which also meant they didn't make the money. After tallying up all the buy-ins, a prize pool of €2.88 was announced with €1 million going to the winner. The top eight spots were set to be paid.

As play closed in on the final table, Marvin Rettenmaier was eliminated in 12th place, Fabian Quoss in 11th place, then Scott Seiver in 10th place. The final nine players redrew to one table and were going to play it out until the bubble burst and just eight remained. There was a change of plans, though, and the players opted to stop at the end of Level 17. The schedule is to return tomorrow at 3:00 PM local time and play down to a winner.

The players have all spoken up and decided to stop play for the night. They'll return tomorrow at 3:00 PM local time to continue the tournament. Right now, they are bagging and tagging their chips, and we'll have a recap posted shortly.

Chasing The Money

Level 18 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

There are still nine players remaining while just eight will get a spot in the money. All players agreed on playing one more level, this will be the final level of the day regardless of what happens. As soon as the bubble bursts play will stop.

Juanda Losing Steam

Action folded to John Juanda on the button and he raised to 48,000. From the big blind, Philipp Gruissem called, and the flop came down {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Gruissem checked, Juanda bet 60,000 and Gruissem called.

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, and Gruissem led for a small 20,000. Juanda made the call.

The river was the {9-Hearts}, and Gruissem bet 85,000. Juanda folded.

Shortly after that, Juanda raised to 47,000 from the hijack seat, and Tobias Reinkemeier called from the big blind to take a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Reinkemeier checked, Juanda bet 68,000, and Reinkemeier called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds}, and both players checked to see the {J-Hearts} land on the river. Reinkemeier checked, and Juanda checked behind.

Reinkemeier showed the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} for a pair of aces, and Juanda mucked.

Sointula Gets Some Life

Jani Sointula
Jani Sointula

Jani Sointula just moved all in for the third time in one orbit, and this time it was from the button. His shove was for 255,000 and Richard Yong folded his small blind. John Juanda sat in the big blind, and he joked that Winfred Yu would really like him to call. Seconds later Juanda did.

Showdown:
Jani Sointula: {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
John Juanda: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

"Nice slowroll," Sointual said as the dealer ran out {Q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

The Finn doubled up but added that Juanda had done this to him before during a tournament in London. Juanda did not understand Sointula's argument and replied with, "I guess you're the only person I've ever slowrolled. Twice."

Sointula is back in the race and everyone will be looking at Yu now.
