The 2023 Wynn Millions kicked off on February 20 and is slated to run through March 19. While the $3,500 buy-in, $3 million GTD Wynn Millions Main Event is capturing the big headlines, there have been a series of side events playing over the past couple of weeks.

One of those tournaments was the $600 H.O.R.S.E., which drew 92 runners and awarded a $47,380 prize pool to the top 11 finishers. Two players to cash for $1,279 apiece but fall just short of the final table were Svetlana Gromenkova (10th place) and Ke Chen (11th place).

It was the 19th final table appearance in a Wynn tournament by poker pro Ryan Laplante, but amazingly he had never taken home a coveted trophy. That all changed when he closed out the tournament to the tune of $12,401 after a heads-up deal w/ Tony Phan, who claimed $12,400 in prize money.

Kitty Kuo was seen pulling in a double with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} showing and a full board of {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Kuo was at risk for 54,000, and it looked like she had beat {a-}{x-} for the double.

Meanwhile, Alex Foxen raised to 9,000 from the button and Andrew Lim called from the small blind. The big blind got out of the way and the flop was {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Spades} and Lim check-called another 9,000 bet from Foxen. The turn was {3-Spades} and Lim check-folded to a 25,000 bet. Based on the reaction from the table, it appeared that Foxen showed {7-Spades} before he tossed the winning hand in the muck.

Lin Freerolls All In Against Lim

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Andrew Lim
Andrew Lim

In a heads-up pot with just over 60,000 in the middle on a flop showing {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, Andrew Lim bet out 18,000 from middle position and Ren Lin raised to 45,000 in the cutoff. Lim took some time before eventually making the call and the {k-Hearts} rolled off on the turn.

Lim elected to move all in, covering the close to 80,000 remaining for Lin, who snap-called.

Ren Lin: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Andrew Lim: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Both players had a monster with turned trips but Lin had the flush draw as a back up plan.

"Give me a diamond," shouted Lin before the dealer put out the {a-Hearts} which didn't give Lin the freeroll he was looking for. Both players took back their chips and chopped up the pot.

"I can't win against any of you, I'm going back to baccarat," joked Lim as he collected his half of the pot.
