Katja Thater Eliminated

Katja Thater has been eliminated in the last hand of the day. After raising on the flop, all the chips were in on the turn on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Thater held {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for top two pair but trailed the {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} of her opponent who had made a straight.

The river landed the {8-Diamonds} to ensure that Thater would not return on day 2.

Late Night Table Talk

After losing a pot, Van Marcus was overheard to comment to Paul Wolfe "You're a world-class Omaha Hi-Lo player? Calling a raise with J-3-3-2! How to lose a million in a day!"

It looks like Wolfe will get the last laugh of the day as he'll bag up around 18,000 chips while Marcus will head into day 2 with only around 13,000.

Jimmy Fricke Quartered

The Master Eliminated

After being down to as low as 225 in chips at one point, and then clawing his way back up the leaderboard, Men 'The Master' Nguyen has finally been dealt his last Omaha hand for this event.

Nguyen and Allen Kessler took a flop of {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Kessler let out with a bet of 500. Nguyen raised to 1,000 and Kessler raised once again to put Nguyen all in. He made the call and the cards were flipped.

Kessler: {3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Nguyen: {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The turn arrived the {10-Hearts} and river {A-Diamonds} and Kessler made the wheel for the low and a six-high straight for the high hand to scoop the pot and eliminate a courageous Nguyen from the tournament.

Men the Master Still Having Dealer Issues

Men "The Master" Nguyen and Allen Kessler were involved in a pot to the river. Nguyen was all in on a board of {8-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} and Kessler called. Kessler showed {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {5-Hearts} for a low and Nguyen showed {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} for a set of eights.

Apparently the dealer misread Nguyen's hand and went to try and muck it. Nguyen gets angry and stops the dealer and says "Don't touch my cards. You try to kill my hand. I have two pair."

Nguyen's issues with dealers in today's event continues.

The Pace Slows

As the clock ticks past 2 a.m. local time it appears some weary players are now thinking about simply surviving to come back tomorrow and fight another day. The action has slowed on most tables with only around 30 minutes of play left on the opening day of this event.

Shannon Elizabeth Eliminated

On a board of {J-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {4-Spades} , Shannon Elizabeth put in her last 1,000. She received one caller. Elizabeth turned over {4-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} for the nut full house. Unfortunately for the guys in her section, her opponent held the only hand that could beat her when he turned over {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} for quad fives.
