Players Dropping...Slowly

Poker Room
Poker Room
As is the case with most limit games, the action has been pretty slow in the early stages of the day with eliminations few and far between. We expect the eliminations to pick up over the next few hours as the blinds increase and the short stacks become under increasing pressure to survive.

There are currently 440 players remaining in today's field.

Robert Mizrachi Builds His Stack

Robert Mizrachi was in a three-way pot a few moments ago. On a flop of {4-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds} , Mizrachi bet and had 2 callers. On a turn of {5-Diamonds} , Mizrachi again bet and received one caller. The river was the {3-Spades} and it was checked around. Mizrachi showed {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {A-Hearts} and his opponent mucked. After the hand Mizrachi is up to 17,500.

Slim Chops It Up

On a flop of {3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} Amarillo Slim led out with the opening bet from the big blind and a player in late position raised it up. Slim made the call.

They saw a turn of {Q-Clubs} and again Slim led out, was raised, and made the call.

The river landed the {7-Hearts} and the players slowed down and both checked their hands. Slim held {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a lowly two pair but it was good for the high as his opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped top pair plus nut flush draw combo that ended up collecting the low.

Slim is hanging in there with 3,200 in chips.

Phil Ivey Appears!

Phil Ivey has just made his first appearance in today's tournament, early into the 6th level of play. Apparently Phil is still alive in the $1,000 rebuy tournament and during the break in that event he decided to move across to the other side of the Amazon Room to play a little Omaha during his downtime. As he takes his seat in this event, his stack has been blinded down to only 600 in chips.
