Poker Slows, Baccarat Roars

This level has been relatively quiet so far without a lot of action to report. There have been a couple of loud roars in the Walker Hill Casino which grabbed our attention as we thought there may have been a big all-in clash, only to find that the roars are coming from the nearby Baccarat tables where a large crowd are getting a little overly enthusiastic with their squeezing!

If Only

A player was recently busted from the tournament. Upon standing up and seeing a floor person nearby, he jokingly asked, "Am I in the money?"

The Cream Rises To The Top

After another break of tables, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier has now found himself seated two to the left of Greg Raymer on a table which also features David Saab. The cream appears to be rising to the top in this tournament so far with many big name players sitting with healthy stacks and very few eliminated to date. As the field narrows we are witnessing some exciting table lineups.

Chucky Gone

Chua Eliminated By Sabat
Chua Eliminated By Sabat
Charles Chua has become one of the first major casualties of today's event. A short-stacked Chua moved all in with {Q-Clubs}{8-?} from the button and Eddie Sabat made the call in the small blind with pocket fours.

Chua looked set for a double up when the flop landed {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} giving him two pair, but Sabat spiked a {4-Diamonds} on the turn to the roars of the table, leaving Chua in trouble.

The river was the {5-Hearts} and once again Chua is eliminated at the hands of Sabat, this time a few days earlier than their previous encounter in Macau.

Sabat is now up over the 30,000 chip mark.

Who's Line is it Anyway?

David Saab has been all chatter at Table 3 all day. He had been joking around with J.J. Liu, who was seated on his immediate left, but she was recently knocked out of the tournament and replaced by Greg Raymer, who was broken away from his previous table. It seems that Raymer is now the chatterbox, giving Saab a discourse on the different types of cabs that can be found in London.

Dueling Pairs

Celina Lin
Celina Lin
The "Table of Death" is providing some interesting action this afternoon. Celina Lin and James Honeybone, both ever friendly, took a hand to the river. The board showed {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} {3-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. Lin, with smile and a laugh, said, "How about 1,050?"

Honeybone seemed unhappy with the bet. "I'm not sure what to put you on," he admitted. His confusion eventually goaded him into calling.

"How big's your pair?" Lin asked.

"Sevens."

"That's good." Honeybone did indeed open pocket sevens for two pair, kings and sevens. Lin mucked.

We're Going Bananas

Banana?
Banana?
It seems that today's APPT Seoul event has been proudly sponsored by the humble banana. The PokerStars promotional girls have been walking around the tables here in the Walker Hill Casino handing out bananas to the hungry poker players. With an extra potassium hit hopefully the players will now be able to make it through until the end of level seven when they will enjoy a buffet dinner.

ElkY Cracks Aces

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
We caught the action on a board of {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades} with Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier firing out a bet of 2,875 from the big blind into an already healthy pot.

His opponent deliberated before tossing out three blue 1,000 denomination chips to declare a call.

The river landed the {10-Hearts} and "ElkY" led out with another bet, this time for 4,425. His opponent counted out his remaining chips, before sliding them all into the middle. It was roughly an extra 3,000 to "ElkY" but before the chips could be counted out, he'd made the call.

His opponent flipped {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} but "ElkY" had cracked them with a big blind special with {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for trip deuces.

"They were suited!" defended Grospellier as he raked in around 28,000 in chips, sending his disappointed opponent to the exit.

River Bails Out Kim

Wooka Kim
Wooka Kim
Wooka Kim has been quiet sor far this afternoon, but she just made a big statement. There were 10,000 chips in the pot on the turn, with the board showing {2-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. She thoughtfully deliberated her action before checking to her lone opponent in late position. He quickly double-rapped the table behind her. The river came {Q-Hearts}. Again Kim acted very deliberately, pausing to consider what she should do before betting 2,500.

"I have enough of a hand," her opponent said. "I call." Kim turned over {A-Spades} {Q-Spades}, having rivered a full house. Her opponent nodded and flashed the {2-Diamonds} before mucking.
