Whoops

We weren't kidding when we said the tables are packed everywhere. We just found two extra tables hidden away behind a wall and watched James Honeybone raise a pot to 300. He was called only by Ron Kluber, a local here in Seoul. Kluber flashed the {A-Hearts} to his side of the table but folded when Honeybone bet 450 on a flop of {j-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}.

Saab Doubles Through Liu

Friendly foes David Saab and J.J. Liu
Friendly foes David Saab and J.J. Liu
David Saab came ready to gamble today. He seems to be playing almost every hand and was at it again with J.J. Liu. We missed the preflop action and Liu's action on the {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {7-Spades} flop, but saw Saab move all in from the button for about 6,000 chips. Liu took her time counting out the chips before splashing them into the middle.

"I'm on a straight draw," Saab informed her as he turned over {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. Liu nodded and showed him {10-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. The turn promptly filled Saab's draw, coming {8-Hearts}. Liu could not return the favor on the river, missing it with the {5-Spades}.

As a result of the hand, Saab moved up to about 17,000 in chips and Liu dropped to 3,800.

Unofficial Numbers

The unofficial word is that 165 players have ventured to Seoul for today's APPT event. Of those players there are eight qualifiers who have failed to take their seats in today's field, so they have been provisionally disqualified and their stacks removed from play. If they do make an appearance then a calculation for missed blinds will be made and they will be allowed to enter with a reduced start stack.

Sabat Slowrolls Set?

Eddie Sabat
Eddie Sabat
On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, the pot was already sizable when the player in seat one pushed all of his chips into the middle, forcing 2008 APPT Macau champion Eddie Sabat to a huge decision for most of his chips.

Sabat went into the tank saying "Have you got a straight?". His opponent was motionless or perhaps wasn't proficient in English, but Sabat plonked his chips into the middle to make the call anyway.

The player in seat one flipped {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} but Sabat had the goods with {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a set of eights. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and river the {Q-Diamonds} and Sabat eliminates his opponent to jump up to 28,000 chips.

"Was that a slowroll?" Sabat queried the table as he raked in the chips.

"Not really," replied Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, "but if it was against me then it was definitely a slowroll!"

The Heart of a Lion

David Saab is creating a bit of havoc at his table. He tried to bluff J.J. Liu out of a hand with queen-high but was foiled when she called him down with top pair of nines, five kicker. "Nine-five, huh?" he asked Liu mock accusingly. Then he laughed and added, "Nice hand."

Later on, Saab was at it again against a different opponent. With position, he called a raise to 150 preflop. The flop came down {9-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {J-Hearts} and Saab quickly called when his opponent bet 250. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and again Saab quickly called a bet of 375. His opponent finally slowed down on the river {10-Clubs}, checking to Saab. Saab carefully picked up his chips, then threw two blue chips (2,000) into the middle.

His opponent sighed, removed his sunglasses and took off his headphones. He looked back and forth from the board to Saab, then slammed a stack of chips into the table in disgust. After about a minute, he open-mucked pocket jacks (top set). After the pot was pushed to Saab, he gleefully turned over ace-king. It was another bluff!

"You have to have the heart of a lion," Saab informed his opponent. He now sits behind 7,500 in chips.

Pashak Claims Two

Larry Pashak
Larry Pashak
Larry Pashak has emerged as our early chip leader after a massive three-way all in on table five.

The board read {9-Spades}{A-Spades}{6-Hearts}{J-Hearts} when Pashak and his two opponents all committed their chips into the middle.

Pashak proudly flipped {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a set of nines, to be well in front of the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a smaller set and {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for top pair for his opponents.

The river landed the {K-Clubs} and Pashak sends two to an early exit as he rakes in around 28,000 chips.

Another Final Table for Huang?

Diwei Huang
Diwei Huang
Diwei "Brian" Huang was another player who enjoyed a fair amount of success at APPT Macau who is in today's field. He took down a recent pot that was heads up on the turn. With the board showing {Q-Spades} {2-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} and roughly 1,000 in the pot, Huang's opponent bet 500. Huang quickly raised that bet to 1,200 from late position. His opponent didn't give much thought to calling, quickly folding his hand.

Sabat and ElkY at it Again

Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier
Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Eddie Sabat have been involved in a few skirmishes so far at Table 1, with Sabat taking the worst of it. He was faced with a 1,125-chip bet from ElkY on a board of {6-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. Sabat tanked for about a minute before giving an impish grin and throwing 1,125 chips into the middle. ElkY quickly and wordlessly turned over {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} for the nut flush and raked in the pot.

"My Name is Andrew"

APPT Macau High Roller runner-up Andrew Scott has assumed the role of social chair at his table, introducing himself to everyone else and generally being quite chatty. He raised a recent pot to 150 from the cutoff, finding two customeres: the button and the big blind.

"There we go! There we go. Now we have a hand," said Scott. He was less chatty once the dealer spread a flop of {K-Clubs} {4-Spades} {5-Spades}. After the big blind checked, he checked as well. The button player bet 500.

"One and one-nineteenth the size of the pot," noted Scott, but that was all he did with the button's bet. The big blind and he both mucked.
