Table of Death?

With the recent breaking of table 16 we now see that Celina Lin has joined an already formidable lineup at her new table which includes Ivan Tan, Ron Kluber, Hevad Khan and final tablist from last year's APPT Seoul event, James Honeybone.

Flip Flop

Hevad Khan
Hevad Khan
Hevad Khan is a name we haven't mentioned much today. He recently made an aggressive move and paid the price. He raised to 550 from middle position, only to have the player on his immediate left reraise to 1,400. That folded everyone else in the hand. With action back on Khan, he wasted no time in making it 4,550 to go, a bet that would put his opponent all in.

"Poor timing on my part," said Khan's opponent as he called all in for 3,600 and opened {A-Spades} {J-Spades}. It wasn't the worst timing; Khan showed {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}.

"Don't worry, I never win flips," said Khan. He was right this time, at least, as the board ran out {6-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {4-Spades} to make a pair of aces for his opponent and knock him down to about 9,000.

Sabat's Steal Doesn't Work

Charles Chua and Edward Sabat each tried to execute a steal at their table, but it was a third player that won all the chips. Chua raised the button to 400 and was called by Sabat in the small blind and by the big blind. Everyone checked the {5-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} flop. When the turn came {A-Clubs}, Sabat made it 400 to go. The big blind called but Chua folded. Both remaining players quickly checked the {A-Hearts} river, with Sabat sheepishly turning over {10-Spades} {6-Spades}. His opponent showed {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for bottom pair and a winner.

Tan Doubles With Set Over Set

Ivan Tan
Ivan Tan
2007 APPT Macau runner-up Ivan Tan has just found a nice double up. All the chips were in the middle on a flop of {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs} with Tan holding {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a set of tens against the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a set of sevens for his opponent.

The turn and river landed {9-Diamonds}, {K-Diamonds} to give Tan a double up to over 21,000 chips.

Saab Rolling

Someone once said "I'd rather be lucky than good." David Saab displayed both qualities in a recent hand, managing to cripple one of his opponents. That opponent flopped top pair on a {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {J-Spades}, but Saab called a flop bet with {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and promptly turned a set, {4-Spades}. The river {J-Hearts} provided plenty of fireworks, with Saab getting all of his chips into the middle. The hand crippled his opponent to under 2,000 in chips.

Scott Stumbles

Andrew Scott
Andrew Scott
Andrew Scott, who finished runner-up in the 2008 APPT Macau High Rollers event is struggling to get things going in today's event. We recently caught him in a hand where he had fired bets on the flop and turn and was deliberating his decision on a board of {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

Scott asked for a count of his opponent's stack and thought for a long time before tossing 1,500 into the middle. His opponent snap-called. "You win!" said Scott and his opponent duly flipped over {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for trip tens.

Scott is down to 8,500.

The Luck of the Draw

Charles Chua and Eddie Sabat
Charles Chua and Eddie Sabat
Table 1 was recently broken. Eddie Sabat drew his new seat card, walked to the seat, and sat down on the left of Charles Chua. The two have a recent history, of course, as the the last two players remaining in the APPT Macau Main Event. Sabat eventually won that event, and has position on Chua in today's event.

"I have a feeling all of my chips are going over here," said Chua, pointing at Sabat's stack. Then he jokingly added, "But it's OK. We swapped forty percent!"
