Steicke Stalks the Leaderboard

David Steicke has just picked up a nice pot to see his stack to increase to one of the biggest in the room.

We caught the action with a flop showing {8-Hearts} {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} and with Steicke checking the action to his opponent on the button who bet 11,500. Steicke made the call and the {2-Clubs} landed on the turn. Both players checked this card as the {5-Spades} completed the board on the river.

This time Steicke decided to lead, throwing out 15,000. His opponent made it 40,000 and Steicke made the call. His opponent sheepishly turned over {a-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for a whole lot of nothing, while Steicke took down the pot with {8-Spades} {6-Spades} .

Barbero Almost Busted

Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero is in trouble. We just noticed that he is sitting behind a stack of only 19,200. Apparently Barbero got his stack all in holding {j-} {j-} against the {a-} {k-} of Sangeeth Mohan who is now sitting behind a noticeably much larger stack.

Barbero Almost Back

It's not quite a big stack but it's a lot healthier than it was a few minutes ago, with Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero managing to double-up on a recent hand.

Barbero did almost the only thing he could do and shoved his stack all in. Fabian Spiedelmann raised behind him and the rest of the table got out of the way.

It was a good spot for Barbero and it would be all safe as a {k-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {q-Clubs} {5-Spades} {a-Spades} board ran out, with Barbero taking down the much needed double-up.

Nacho Crushed Again

Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero was just knocked down to 6,000 in chips after doubling up Percy Yung.

Barbero had moved all in from the button on the previous hand in order to pick up the blinds and antes before shoving all in from the cutoff seat on this hand for 50,500. Percy Yung called all in for 44,500 from the small blind. She held the {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} and was dominating Barbero's {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} .

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} and Barbero lost. He thought he had less chips than Yung, but was called back to the table with just over one big blind left.

Yung Doubles with Aces

Just one hand after doubling through Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero, Percy Yung was involved in another pot with all of her chips in the middle. Action folded to Barbero and, although he only had 5,500 left, he folded. In the next seat, the cutoff, Fabian Spiedelmann raised to 10,500. Yung was on the button and reraised to 24,500. When play got back to Spiedelmann, he moved all in. Yung snapped.

Barbero Eliminated

Action folded to Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero in middle position. He put his last 5,000 in the middle. On the button, Tommy Wong raised to 13,000 and everyone else folded. Barbero held the {K-Hearts} {6-Spades} and Wong the {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs} .

After a board of {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {A-Hearts} , Barbero was left with nothing but the felt in front of him and headed to the rail -- just a few spots short of a cash here at the 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Macau.

Zheng Gone

Jackson Zheng was looking to make Macau the third deep run in as many events this year at the APPT, after finishing 10th in APPT Queenstown and 8th in APPT Melbourne.

Unfortunately for Zheng he won't be able to do that after he has been spotted making his way out of the tournament area.
