Day 3 Completed

Bring on the Final Day

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Sangeeth Mohan - Final day chipleader.
Sangeeth Mohan - Final day chipleader.

It's all over on Day 3 here at the PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event and what an eventful day it was. What started as 96 players has slowly been whittled down to just 15, as two tables of players will return tomorrow to take their shot at Asia Pacific Poker Tour glory!

Coming into Day 3 it was Nathaniel Seet who who had the most chips, holding a staggering lead over Dan Park who was second in chips. In the end Park managed to finish 28th place, while Seet was knocked out in 38th place.

Seet and Park may have been lucky enough to finish in the money, but it wasn't the same story for Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero. The demise of Barbero came after several hands of brutality which left him with only 5,000 in chips. Barbero's last chips were sent into the middle holding {K-Hearts}{6-Spades} against an opponent's {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. No help came for Barbero and he was sent to the rail.

Some prominent players who did manage to make the money were Julian Powell (69th), Andrew Scott (61st), Johnny Chan (60th), Terrence Chan (56th) and Grant Levy (25th).

Of course, what everyone wants to know is who is still in contention for the title. It will be Sangeeth Mohan who will return tomorrow with the chip lead, bagging up a huge 2,425,000. Mohan is on a bit of hot streak at the moment, having taken down an Asian Poker Tour event in Goa, India just a few weeks ago. See below for a final day table draw.

Dye and Wei Fall to End the Day

Although we only needed to lose one more player before calling it quits on the night, both Shane Dye and Victor Wei hit the rail at the same time at different tables.

Dye had moved all in from the button for 260,000 and Sangeeth Mohan snap-called from the big blind with the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. Dye held the {A-Spades}{5-Clubs}. The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Mohan busted Dye with a full house.

Wei had moved the last of his chips in preflop with the {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and was dominated by the {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for Jimmy Pan. A board of {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} fell and so did Wei.

The remaining 15 players will now bag and tag their chips to end the day. We'll have a full recap coming shortly.

One More Bust

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante

APPT President Danny McDonough has just announced that play will stop when we are down to 16 - two tables of 8.

Steicke Getting There

Victor Wei has lost a lot of chips in the last few hands, and a recent hands saw more of chips go in the opposite direction that he would like.

David Steicke was all in holding {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Wei came up against him holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. By the time the {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} board had ran out it was a big hit for Wei as Steicke took the lucky hand to move back over a million.

Xia Busto

Another player has bit the dust in Macau and this time it was Hui Xia.

Xia was short stacked when he moved all in holding {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. He received the call from Fabian Spiedelmann who held {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. A devastating board showing {10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and it was all over for Xia.
