Day 2 Concludes with Seet On Top

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Nathaniel Seet
Nathaniel Seet

Day 2 of the 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event has wrapped up. When the day began, the record field at 575 players had 304 returning. Standing at the end of the day there were about 100 of them and it was Nathaniel Seet leading the way. He bagged up a whopping 774,500 in chips.

Seet took the lead rather early in the day and never looked back. His stack kept rising and rising as he destroyed most of his opponents en route to the end-of-day chip lead. Seet does have some APPT success. Back in 2008, he final tabled the APPT Auckland Main Event and finished in eighth place. He also won the APPT Manilla High Roller that same year. In 2010, Seet placed 10th in the APPT Cebu Main Event. He'll be looking to best both of those finishes and has set himself up nicely to do so.

Coming into Day 2, all eyes were on Phil Ivey. He entered the day with just over 50,000 in his stack and never seemed to get anything going. The largest amount we caught him at was 70,000 before things started really going south. Ivey got shorter and shorter as the day progressed before eventually falling in the last level of play. He was all in with the {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts} against the {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for Darren Judges. Judges' hand held up after a board of {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Ivey was eliminated.

Outside of Ivey, some of the notables eliminated throughout the day's play were Team PokerStars Pro's Alex Kravchenko, Vivian Im, Bryan Huang and Raymond Wu. Team Online's Mickey Petersen was also eliminated, leaving just Nacho Barbero and Randy Lew left to represent the red spade badge.

Some of the notables advancing to Day 3 are David Steicke, Jeff Rossiter, Andrew Scott and Terrence Chan. Another Chan is also moving on and that's ten-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner and two-time WSOP Main Event champion Johnny Chan. He'll be back in action on Day 3 as well.

Day 3 will commence at noon local time here at PokerStars Macau on Saturday. PokerNews will be on hand for all of the live coverage, so be sure to join us right back here. You won't want to miss a thing!
