JJProdigy Eliminated

JJProdigy's Elimination Hand
JJProdigy's Elimination Hand
A short-stacked Josh "JJProdigy" Field got the last of his money into the pot on a flop of {J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} holding {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. His opponent looked him up with {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

The turn and river came {10-Diamonds}, {4-Clubs} giving Field's opponent the nut straight, eliminating the 18-year-old from the tournament.

"Tilt Call" Turns to Gold

There was a discrepancy with the pre-flop action on the table of Kevin "BeL0WaB0Ve" Saul and a tournament director was called over to make a ruling. It is believed that it was ruled that Saul would have to leave 1,500 in the pot and, since another player had raised, he needed to bet an additional 5,500 to see a flop. Obviously unhappy with this ruling, Saul made what he described as a "tilt call".

With 25,000 in the pot before the flop had been dealt, Steve Zolotow moved his last 3,000 in the middle in the dark as the cards landed {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Saul and Warwick Mirzikinian also got it all in.

Mirzikinian held {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for top two pair, and Saul was going to need lots of help with his {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. The turn landed {9-Spades} and the river made his gutshot with the {4-Diamonds}. In a bizarre hand, a reluctant Saul took down the monster pot. We didn't get a chance to see the cards of Zolotow but he couldn't better Saul's straight and was eliminated from today's event.

Table Talk

Overheard from the rail, in regard to Josh "JJProdigy" Field's sweatshirt:

"Who's that guy sitting there with the crazy shirt?"

"I don't know, but whoever he is, he's obviously really bad at paintball."

Max Pescatori Scoops Huge Pot

Max Pescatori fired on all three streets against Fred Bart on a board of {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Bart made a crying river call to "keep him honest" and Pescatori flipped over {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a flopped two pair and rivered nut straight. Bart says he paired all of his cards which unfortunately doesn't win you the pot in Omaha as Pescatori leaps to 38,000 chips.

"May All Your Cards Be Live and Your Pots Be Monsters"

Mike Sexton = Chip Leader
Mike Sexton = Chip Leader
In this case for the WPT host Mike Sexton it couldn't be more true. Omaha is a game of draws and Mike Sexton has just confirmed this by eliminating an opponent in a big hand which now has him as the tournament chip leader.

The chips all went in on a board of {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Sexton showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a complete straight wrap and a king high flush draw. His opponent tabled {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for top set.

The turn landed the {7-Hearts} to give Sexton his flush and the blank {4-Diamonds} on the river leaves Sexton sitting pretty with a healthy chip stack.

"Let Him Have It"

Jeffrey Lisandro

Moments ago, Kevin "BeL0WaB0Ve" Saul eliminated Jeff Lisandro from the tournament, but before it was made official the floor was called to the table to resolve a minor dispute between the players and the dealer.

Lisandro had all of his chips in the middle by the time the board read {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Saul and another opponent, Warwick Mirzikinian, were still involved in a live side-pot, which ended with a pot-sized bet from Saul that prompted Mirzikinian to get out of the way, leaving Saul and Lisandro left to table their cards and see the river.

Saul flipped his hand over first: {Q-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{A-Hearts}. Lisandro took one look at Saul's cards and then another look at his own before he threw his hand face-down towards the dealer and said, "Let him have it" before he walked away from the table.

Fully aware of the Crown's anti-collusion tournament rule that all cards must be turned over when a player is all in and called, the dealer kept the cards safely under her hand while she tried to spot a floorperson to help out. All the while, Steve Zolotow and others at the table instructed the dealer to simply muck Lisandro's cards, deal the river and push the pot to Saul.

The dealer correctly waited for a floorperson to make a ruling and it was tournament director Danny McDonagh who eventually made the final decision that Lisandros cards would be turned over. Himself long gone from the table, Lisandro's cards were {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and he was drawing dead. The river card, though irrelevant, was the {Q-Spades}.

Aces vs Aces

Nick Assiotis was happy enough to get the last of his money in holding {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and he found a customer in Mark Kassis who also held aces in his hand of {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

The flop of {J-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} seemed innocent enough for Assiotis as a split pot seemed likely. However he looked in shock as the the {Q-Spades} and {10-Spades} peeled off on the turn and river to give Kassis a straight with his A-K playing to send an unlucky Nick Assiotis to the rail.

Lisandro Crippled

The money was all in on the flop of {2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} with Lee Watkinson holding {7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Jeff Lisandro {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

Watkinson had snatched the lead with an unlikely two pair, as Lisandro watched the {J-Diamonds} on the turn and {9-Clubs} on the river leave him with only 1,125 in chips to survive with!
