$1,500 Platinum Player Championships

Day 1d Started

Aiming For a Million in the $1,500 Platinum Player Championships

Australian Poker Open Field
Australian Poker Open Field

The benchmark has been set over the opening three days of the $1,500 Platinum Player Championships, where players will need a seven-figure stack to be among the chip leaders after the opening flights at Doltone House Western Sydney at Club Marconi.

Coming off a massive Friday at the Australian Poker Open, players will get another chance to chase the money as the prize pool has already grown well past the guaranteed $500,000 mark. Players and tournament staff are eager to see just how high that number can climb over the weekend.

Another 164 entries on Friday brought the tournament total to 455, with 57 players bagging for Day 2 and securing $2,300. That number was originally set at 58, but a pair of knockouts on the Day 1c bubble left the final cash of the night split between two players.

There have only been four players to accumulate seven-figure stacks to this point, and that's what the rest of the field will be shooting for on Saturday.

Action for Day 1d will begin earlier than the other flights, kicking off Saturday, March 30 at 11 a.m. local time. The rest of the structure remains the same, as players start with 50,000 chips and play 40-minute levels until just 12.5% of the field remains.

Blinds will open at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante, and breaks are scheduled after every three levels of play. Late registration will be open until the end of Level 9, with unlimited reentries permitted until that point.

Kim Fires Every Street

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Juha Kim opened to 600 in middle position, with Errolyn Strang calling in the cutoff and Peter Le doing the same in the big blind.

The dealer turned over the A57 flop, with Le checking. Kim continued for 1,100 and Strang folded, while Le made the call.

The 10 saw Le check-call again, this time for 1,900. One last check from Le on the 3 river brought a bet of 2,500 from Kim, good enough to take down the pot as Le mucked.
