It was a record-breaking Day 1 to the EPT 13 Barcelona €10,300 High Roller, as the record for biggest EPT High Roller was not just broken, but smashed! Last year's Barcelona €10,300 High Roller held the record which stood at 506, but with late registration open until the start of Day 2, the number of entrants is up to 565.

With such a huge field, you were hard-pressed to find a table without a minimum of two big names. Former High Roller champions such as Charlie Carrel, Fedor Holz, Martin Finger, Philipp Gruissem, and Pratyush Buddiga.

Other big names who jumped in the biggest ever EPT High Roller included Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Andre Akkari, Felipe Ramos Luca Pagano and George Danzer, Former November Niner Antoine Saout as well as Robin Ylitalo, Vitaly Lunkin, Mohsin Charania, Kent Lundmark, Iliodoros Kamatakis, Faraz Jaka and Dominik Nitsche.

It wasn't to be for certain players who, after firing two bullets in the event, will not be winning this particular EPT High Roller. Dietrich Fast and Akin Tuna were eliminated early on, and they were joined by [Removed:17], 2015 November Niner Pierre Neuville and defending EPT Barcelona €10,000 High Roller Champion Mustapha Kanit.

After ten 60-minute levels today, there are some 290 players left and leading the way is Marc-Olivier Perrault. Georgios Zisimopoulous five-bet jammed 150,000 with Ace-King into the pocket kings of Perrault in the last few hands of the night, meaning that the Canadian finishes the day with 404,000 in chips.

Other above average chip stacks in the room include Felipe Ramos (284,500), Pasquale Grimaldi (280,100), Dorian Rios Pavon (247,000)

Some notable players heading into Day 2 include Rocco Palumbo (189,900), Steven van Zadelhoff (150,000), Davidi Kitai (144,300), Dario Sammartino (113,300), Luca Pagano (108,300), Fedor Holz (107,900), Charlie Carrel (92,500), Anthony Zinno (90,500), Pratyush Buddiga (87,400), Chris Moorman (86,100), Daniel Negreanu (61,700), Sam Chartier (56,200), Jason Mercier (47,100) and George Danzer (19,900)

Zisimopoulos Picks Wrong Timing and Busts in Huge Pot

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Marc-Olivier Perrault was sitting behind a monster tower while Georgios Zisimopoulos hastily left the table, his cards already in the muck. The {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} of Perrault were still showing and a board of {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and the Canadian confirmed what happened.

According to Perrault, he got into a raising war with Zisimopoulos and the latter had then five-bet all in with ace-king for around 150,000.

Gromov Busts to Keranen

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On the three-way flop of {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, Kyle Keranen bet 5,600 and Shivan Abdine called before Dmitry Gromov moved all in for what looked like 35,000. Keranen reraised all in and Abdine folded.

Gromov: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Keranen: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The {Q-Spades} turn and the {K-Clubs} river failed to improve Gromov and he threw his media card to the dealer and exited the tournament area.

Pasquale Grimaldi On A Heater

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Pasquale Grimaldi is riding the heater, as he just busted another player in a huge pot. On a {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, Grimaldi checked, Yurasov bet 20,000 in an already sizable pot, and Grimaldi check-raised all in. Yurasov mulled over his decision, then decided he couldn't get away from his hand.

Dmitry Yurasov: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Pasquale Grimaldi: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Grimaldi was way ahead in the 150,000 pot, and neither the turn or river was the king Yurasov was looking for, launching Grimaldi to the chiplead.

Ilkin Amirov Eliminated by Pasquale Grimaldi

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Kiryl Radzivonau raised to 4,000 from the hijack, and Pasquale Grimaldi called on the button. The small blind folded and Ilkin Amirov then three-bet all in for 78,400. Radzivonau folded but Grimaldi called.

Pasquale Grimaldi: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Ilkin Amirov: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The flop looked good for Amirov as it came out {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, but the {a-Clubs} on the turn meant that Amirov was drawing very thin indeed, and the {7-Hearts} on the river meant that he was heading to the exit late on Day 2

Sternheimer Wins a Small Pot

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

In a battle of the blinds, there were around 5,000 in the pot with the board reading {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Philip Sternheimer bet 1,800 in the small blind and Noah Vaillancourt called from one seat over. The {J-Clubs} fell on the river and Sternheimer checked, as did Vaillancourt.

Sternheimer showed the {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a pair of nines and that won the pot.
