Ospina Pressures Gonzales Again

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

On the last hand of the level, Pablo Gonzales opened from under the gun for 62,000. Daniel Ospina was sitting in the big blind and put in a three-bet that Gonzales called. Both players checked a paired flop, {7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. On the turn {j-Hearts}, Ospina bet 150,000 that Gonzales did not hesitate to call.

The river was the {2-Diamonds}. Ospina eyed the board, then carefully cut 375,000 off of his stack and slid it across the betting line. Gonzales has shown little desire to tangle with Ospina in big pots today. He slumped back in his chair and folded his arms across his chest. After two minutes he finally mucked his cards.

Juan Marsano Eliminated in 13th Place ($7,740); Derek Lerner Eliminated in 12th Place ($9,280)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Derek Lerner - 12th place
Derek Lerner - 12th place

The stack disparities at the feature table between the haves and the have-nots finally created a crazy hand. Juan Marsano was the first player into the pot, opening all in for 173,000. Derek Lerner was right behind and stuck his own 205,000 into the middle. Then chip leader Daniel Ospina stuck in a re-raise of his own, and with the best hand.

Showdown

Marsano: {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Lerner: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Ospina: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Ospina had the best hand at the river too, making a club flush on a board of {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. Marsano, with fewer chips than Lerner, was deemed the 13th-place finisher. Lerner finished in 12th, and Ospina is up to 2.26 million of the 7 million total chips in play.

Marcelo Caceras Eliminated in 14th Place ($7,740)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Marcelo Caceras - 14th Place
Marcelo Caceras - 14th Place

It was a quick one-two punch for Marcelo Caceras. He had barely regrouped from doubling up Derek Lerner when he was dealt {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and open-shoved for about 120,000. Action passed to Daniel Ospina in the back blind, who thought for more than a minute before finally taking a flyer with {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. The board was clean for Caceras through the turn, {2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, but an unlucky {5-Diamonds} on the river paired Ospina's kicker.

"No!" exclaimed Caceras, turning away from the table in disgust. Unfortunately for him, yes. Ospina dragged the pot with 6s and 5s and knocked Caceras out in 14th place.

Luis Perez Eliminated in 15th Place ($6,200)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

On the last hand of Level 21, Leonardo Zepeda opened pre-flop to 45,000. Luis Perez was the next player to act and moved all in for 230,000. Zepeda eyeballed Perez' stack to be sure of the number of chips he was committing, then called with {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. Perez tabled {a-Spades}{j-Spades}, a hand that couldn't get the job done on a board of {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}. He exits in 15th place with $6,200.

Hodali Takes Chunk Out of Ospina

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Ospina has been having his way up on the feature table but he isn't winning every pot. Samar Hodali bit back in a reent pot that pushed the only remaining woman in the field to more than 1 million in chips.

We arrived with the flop already on board, {3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Somali was in the big blind and led 70,000 at Ospina, who was playing from the button. Ospina called to see the {9-Hearts} hit the turn. Hodali made a small bet of 50,000 that Ospina raised to 160,000. Hodali called, then instantly bet 160,000 of her own when the river came {j-Diamonds}. Ospina sighed and mucked his cards, slipping back to about 1.55 million in the process.

Franklin Diaz Eliminated in 16th Place ($6,200)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Franklin Diaz - 16th place
Franklin Diaz - 16th place

Franklin Diaz is the 16th place finisher in today's tournament. He open-shoved for 272,000 from middle position when both of the chip leaders, Daniel Ospina and Pablo Gonzales, were in the blinds. Ospina called the raise first, passing action to Gonzales. Gonzales cut 272,000 out of his stack, leaving himself 700,000 behind, and then tanked for three or four minutes, clearly pained by his decision. He finally open-folded {q-}{q-} -- bad news for Diaz, who tabled {a-Spades}{q-Spades} to Ospina's {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Nines held, {3-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to increase Ospina's count to 1.7 million.
