A player under the gun opened with a mini-raise to 4,000, and the action came around to Eric "sheets" Haber in late position. Not seeing the first raise, he tried to make it 5,200, correcting himself with an emphatic "I call!" as he took back some change. Not to be outdone, the button squeezed in a raise to 12,000 straight, enough to fold the initial raiser. "I got myself into somethin' here," Haber said in a fine case of foreshadowing. "All right. Let's flop something good," he said as he splashed in the call.
The flop came down , and the action went check-check, Haber with a puzzled look on his face. The turn drew another puzzled look from Haber, but this time he led out with a bet of 15,000. His opponent promptly moved all in for 23,700, and Haber quickly called. He had indeed flopped something good with , but he was already drawing dead as his opponent showed up the significantly better .
The river sealed the double up, taking a little sliver from Haber's stack. He's down to a still-healthy 215,000 now.
John "The Razor" Phan just walked by media row and quickly said "[I had] against pocket deuces. 200,000 pot." Obviously Phan's hand wasn't the best in the end as he has been eliminated from the tournament.
Phil Laak just got a nice boost when he doubled up versus Michael Lazar. Laak was all in preflop with the against the for Lazar. The board ran out to give Laak the double up and move him to 135,000 in chips.
During the first break, Kristy grabbed Adam "AJunglen7" Junglen for a quick Q&A. Since the action has finally begun to slow just a touch, have a look at what Junglen had to say about the beginning stages of his Day 2.
Justin "Boosted J" Smith limped from middle position and Dwyte Pilgrim called from the small blind. The big blind checked his option and three players saw the flop come . All three players checked and the hit the turn.
Pilgrim checked, the big blind bet 4,500, Smith called, Pilgrim check-raised to 13,000, the big blind flatted, and Smith got out of the way. Pilgrim then bet 22,000 when the appeared on the river. The big blind called and showed for a rivered flush, which was better than Pilgrim's . Pilgrim was knocked down to just 20,000 after the hand.
There was about 16,000 in the pot and a flop of when we reached the table. Matt Affleck was in the hijack position and had bet 7,200 only to be raised to 21,700 by Phil "The Unabomber" Laak on the button.
Affleck made the call and both players proceeded to check the turn. When the hit the river, both players took a long time before checking. Affleck revealed and Laak simply mucked. Affleck is up to 190,000 while Laak dropped to 90,000.
There was about 40,000 in the pot when we walked up to a board of . Clint Coffee and Derek Lerner were heads up, and they both checked to see the on the river. There was just over 39,000 in the pot already, and Coffee led out with a bet of 26,000.
Lerner took pause for a long while, and he seemed to hate the fold he was about to make. He did eventually release his cards though, and that pot moves Coffee up to the quarter-million chip mark. He's got 251,000 by our count.
