Toby Lewis and James Romero Battle it Out

Level 6 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Action folded around to James Romero in the cutoff and he raised to 4,000. Toby Lewis was on the button and he three-bet to 10,600. Romero called.

The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Romero check-called a bet of 7,500 from Lewis.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}. This time, Romero led out for 21,000. Lewis thought for a moment and eventually called.

The river was the {a-Diamonds}, and Romero went into the tank for a full two minutes before checking. Lewis quickly checked back and the two were reluctant to table their cards.

Eventually, Romero tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades} and Lewis showed the winner with {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

Lefrancois Exits, Jaffe Enters, and Yu Re-Enters

Level 6 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Pascal Lefrancois is the next player to go as he was seen leaving the tournament area. Just before that, Ryan Yu was the first player to re-enter the tournament, and was sent back to the same table he was seated at previously.

Another addition to the field is Jonathan Jaffe, a recent High Roller winner last October at Maryland Live! Casino. Jaffe is also no stranger to the Playground Poker Club, as he won the World Poker Tour Main Event in the Fall of 2014. He looks to add another Canadian flag to his resume, so watch for him this week!

Halfway Through the Day; Ryan Yu Eliminated

Level 5 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

With the start of level 5, the opening day for this $10,300 High Roller is almost at the halfway mark and closing in on the $500,000 guarantee!

There have been 38 unique entries so far with no re-entries as of yet. The guarantee needs 12 more entries to get there, and with registration open until the end of the first level on Day 2 tomorrow, there is plenty of time.

Justin Ligeri and Ari Engel were the first players to be eliminated today, and Ryan Yu was the latest elimination. He was short after getting involved in a few big pots and eventually hit the rail early in the day.

Marc-Andre Ladouceur Gets Coolered by Alexander Turyansky

Level 4 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Action folded around to Alexander Turyansky on the button and he raised to 2,500. Marc-Andre Ladouceur was in the small blind and three-bet to 8,100. Turyansky thought for a moment and four-bet to 18,000. Ladouceur went into the tank for about a minute and decided to five-bet shove for about 160,000. Turyansky quickly looked back at his cards and called for his remaining 92,500 chips.

Turyansky: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Ladouceur: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Turyansky was miles ahead with two red kings, and Ladouceur needed a lady to take the lead.

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and Turyansky locked up the double.
