Murderers' Row

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Things aren't getting any easier at Table 38 as two new notables have just joined.

We have Cliff Josephy in the one seat, and PokerStars Team Onliner Javier "El_Cañonero" Domínguez Gómez has taken his seat right next door. Around the other side of the table, the last three seats hold Scott Clements, Vanessa Rousso, and now Humberto Brenes in the nine seat.

Another Min-Raise on the River

After a raise and a call pre flop, Scott Seiver and an opponent saw a flop of {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Seiver check-called 400 from his opponent, and the turn brought the {2-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

The {k-Hearts} completed the board, and Seiver thought before leading for 500. His opponent quickly min-raised to 1,000, and Seiver broke out into a smile and folded.

Vedes Can't Beat Jacks

After the under-the-gun player opened to 250, Tommy Vedes re-raised to 625 from the next seat over. The player on the button called, as did the original raiser, landing a {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} to the board.

It was checked to Vedes and he bet 1,150, quickly getting the player on the button to fold. The original raiser, though, stuck around to see the {9-Clubs} turn. A check from both players landed the {4-Diamonds} on the river which the under-the-gun player bet 2,500 at. Vedes called, but mucked when his opponent showed {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

Schwartz Doubles

Noah Schwartz was faced with a 1,550-chip bet with the board reading {6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Schwartz raised to 4,200, and his opponent called. The turn was another six - the {6-Spades} - and Schwartz's opponent checked. Schwartz tossed out 6,225, and his opponent called.

The {4-Hearts} completed the board, and Schwartz's opponent checked again. After a moment for thought, Schwartz moved all in for 17,450, and his opponent snap-called. Schwartz tabled {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for trip sixes, and his opponent flashed {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for just a pair of kings.

Rivet Bests Sands

With 1,550 in the middle on the {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, David "Doc" Sands fired a bet of 1,150. Friend of PokerStars Poli Rincon called, another player called and then Guillaume Rivet put in a raise to 4,000. Sands tanked for a bit and then made the call. Rincon and the other player folded, leaving heads-up action to the turn.

The {6-Hearts} paired the board on the turn and Sands checked to his opponent. Rivet fired another 4,000 and Sands quickly folded.

A Couple of $100K Champions in Battle

Katchalov presenting the $100K trophy to Blom last night
Katchalov presenting the $100K trophy to Blom last night

Team PokerStars Pros Eugene Katchalov and Viktor Blom went to the flop with a third player in the hand. The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and there was 4,950 in the middle. Katchalov fired 2,200 and Blom raised to 6,400. The third player folded and Katchalov made the call.

The turn card was the {7-Hearts} and Katchalov checked with 24,325 behind. Blom bet 8,600 and Katchalov went into the tank for quite some time. He would eventually fold and allow Blom to take the pot.

It's interesting that these two played a hand together, but not only because they are both Team PokerStars Pros. They share something else in common.

In 2010, Katchalov won the $100,000 Super High Roller event at the PCA. This year, he presented Blom with the trophy as he won the event yesterday. We'll surely be keeping an eye on this interesting table that also include fellow Team Pro Noah Boeken.
