Karamalikis Collects From Gowen

Clonie Gowen and Jonathan Karamalikis
Clonie Gowen and Jonathan Karamalikis
Jonathan Karamalikis and Clonie Gowen have been chatting away much to the envy of many of Karamalikis' buddies who seem intent on frequently wandering over to his table to "say hi".

This hasn't interrupted the mojo of Karamalikis as he just won a very healthy pot of our International visitor.

In a re-raised pot, the two took a flop of {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Spades} where Gowen checked to Karamalikis who fired 950. Gowen called and the turn brought the {3-Hearts}. Again Gowen check-called, this time for 2,200.

On the {9-Spades} Gowen checked for the third time and Karamalikis fired another barrel worth 4,700. Gowen tanked for several minutes before making the call, but Karamalikis tabled {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nut flush.

Gowen mucked and slipped to 13,000 as Karamalikis is now up to 38,000 chips.

Heart-Attack For Cliff Lee

George Chrisanthopoulos opened under-the-gun with Cliff Lee raising from the cut-off. Chrisanthopoulos fired back to 5,500 and Lee moved all in. Chrisanthopoulos made the call and the players tabled their cards.

Chrisanthopoulos {Q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Lee {A-Spades}{a-Clubs}

Lee liked his chances until the {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop hit. He began to gather his things together and the {a-Diamonds} spiked to put him back out in front.

The river was the {10-Spades} to drop Chrisanthopoulos down to 10,000 in chips after he had started well. Cliff Lee does the reverse and moves up to 40,000 after starting slow.

"Sorry about the smell fellas but I think I crapped myself" said Lee as he stacked his chips.

Todor, Tino and Tony

In a limped pot, Todor Kondevski, Tino Lechich and Tony Dunst saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. Action checked to Dunst who fired 400 with Kondevski making the call as Lechich stepped aside.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and Kondevski check-called the 1,100 bet from Dunst as the {3-Spades} fell on the river. Both players checked and the cards were tabled.

Kondevski: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Dunst: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Aces and deuces with the queen kicker for both players - chop it up!

Comer Doesn't Want Decent Starting Hands

Preflop a player in the cut-off limped and Martin Comer pumped it up to 375 from the small blind. It folded back to the cut-off who made the call and took a {j-?}{8-?}{k-?} rainbow flop.

Comer led out 1,000 and the player quickly raised to 2,000.

"How do you limp/call and then like that flop?" Comer tanked for a little while and mucked his hand.

"Ok, I don't want any good hands, just give me seven-deuce so I can fold" said Comer to the dealer.

Some Solid Starting Tables

Peter Aristidou and Michael Guzzardi
Peter Aristidou and Michael Guzzardi
A couple of interesting table lineups have formed as the late-comers have taken their seats.

Tino Lechich, Tony Dunst, Todor Kondevski, and defending champ Nali Kaselias are all at the same table, and we found Clonie Gowen and Jonathan Karamalikis chatting away seated next to each other, on the same table as Trung Tran and John Dalessandri.

Meanwhile the table next them is likely to be one of the first broken, which is unfortunate as it features Peter Aristidou, David Gorr, Jim Sachinidis, Michael Guzzardi and Sam Youssef.

Structure

Levels will be one hour in duration. There will be a ten minute break every two levels, with a one hour dinner break scheduled between levels six and seven.

We'll play nine levels today and the survivors from today will be merged with those that made it through yesterday and will play tomorrow.

Sick Cooler For Kemp

Bye Bye Mr Kemp
Bye Bye Mr Kemp
Jai Kemp has become the first elimination for the day.

After six players took a {q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop, Kemp led out with a bet and two players including Barry Clark called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Kemp bet out 1,600. Clark raised it up to 5,200 with the other player getting out of the way. Kemp then moved his stack in and Clark snap called.

Clark {J-?}{10-?}
Kemp {A-Spades}{a-Clubs}

The river failed to pair the board and made Kemp the first player eliminated today.
