Cards are in the air. Because the field has already been reduced to 66 players, the tournament has been shortened by one day. We will play down to the final table tonight, which will likely take eight or nine levels.

Welcome Back for Day 2

The Main Event at the WSOP Circuit Caesars Las Vegas started up yesterday and 150 players took to action. At day's end, 66 of them remain and will be kicking off play at noon today for Day 2.

Leading the way is Dan Casetta. Although he may be relatively unknown, Casetta has over $234,000 in live winnings and also a six-figure score after winning the 11th Annual Battle of the Bay for $100,000. He comes into the day with 168,700. Nipping at his heels are Randy Dorfman (153,800), Matt Stout (141,500) and Randal Flowers (134,700).

Layne Flack hasn't been doing much in poker as of late. In fact, he's taken about six months off from tournament poker, but his return looks to be going pretty damn well. Flack controlled each table he was at and if it wasn't for running a full house into Anthony Yeh's higher full house, he might have finished at the top of the board. As it stands, Flack sits eighth in chips with 109,400.

If yesterday's speed of play was any indication of how it will be today, we should be able to easily reach the money. Top prize of nearly $200,000 should keep the players licking their chops.
