Tom McTeer Doubles Up

Matt Graham
Matt Graham
On a flop of {2-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {J-Spades}, Tom McTeer got all his chips in the pot and drew a call from Matt Graham.

McTeer showed {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} for top set, while Graham tabled {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} and was drawing very thin, needing some sort of runner-runner combination for a straight or flush that wouldn't pair the board. The turn and river brought the {3-Clubs} and {2-Hearts}, and McTeer now has just over 100,000 chips.

They're Falling Fast

In the time it took to write that last post, three more players including Theo Tran have been eliminated from the tournament.

Tran raised from middle position with {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and was called by Tam Nguyen who was holding {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}. The flop came {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}, giving Nguyen two pair. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn gave Tran a chance at the wheel, but the {2-Spades} on the river splashed cold water on his dream of doubling up.

Meanwhile, Tam Nguyen is now sitting with about 220,000 in chips.

First Hand Back - First Player Out

Motoyuki Mabuchi
Motoyuki Mabuchi
That was so quick we didn't even catch the preflop action. We do know that Motoyuki Mabuchi got all in with Robert Cheung. Moto showed {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} while Cheung had {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}.

Mabuchi flopped the gutshot straight draw when the board came {9-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}, and he picked up more outs when the {7-Clubs} hit the turn. The river was unkind though, putting the {J-Diamonds} on the board and giving Mabuchi top pair, which couldn't beat Cheung's flush.

Dwyte Pilgrim Lives to Fight Again

Dwyte Pilgrim
Dwyte Pilgrim
Dwyte Pilgrim got all of his chips in preflop against chip leader Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and chopped the pot.

Pilgrim showed {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} while Grinder showed {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. When the board came {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} their kickers didn't play, and they chopped up the pot.

He Should Have Played Deuces

After a button raise, Paul Magriel pushed his stack all in preflop from the small blind and got called by Matt LaGarde from the big blind.

Magriel showed {J-Spades} {10-Spades} while LaGarde showed {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}. The flop of {4-Spades} {8-Clubs} {4-Hearts} didn't help Magriel, nor did the {2-Diamonds} on the turn or the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

With Magriel's departure, we're just 14 places from the money.
