Cartwright's Queens Crack the Kings of Lutes

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

After a player opened for 750, Travis Lutes raised to 1,900 from the hijack. Kyle Cartwright, who was next to act in the cutoff, then made it 4,250 to go. The original raiser folded and Lutes moved all in for 12,275 more. The huge raise sent Cartwright into the tank, but he eventually made the call.

Lutes: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Cartwright: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

Lutes was in great shape to double, but not so much after the flop came down {7-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Cartwright had hit his set to take the lead. The {8-Hearts} turn changed nothing and left Lutes looking for a king on the river. Unfortunately for him, it was the {A-Spades} and the IP Biloxi Main Event Champ was eliminated from the National Championship.

Patgorski Doubles Through Sands

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

On the flop of {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{4-Spades}, Dave "Doc" Sands checked to Gabe Patgorski. Patgorski bet 800 and Sands made the call. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and Sands checked again. Patgorski fired 3,000 and Sands made another call.

The river completed the board with the {J-Hearts} and Sands checked. Patgorski moved all in for 10,100 and after a minute or two, Sands made the call. Patgorski tabled the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for a set of kings and Sands mucked his hand.

Patgorski improved to about 30,000 while Sands was left with 12,000.

Shorr Clipped by Top Pair

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Four players committed 700 preflop to see a {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop with Shannon Shorr snatching the lead by pushing out 1,600 from the big blind.

The original raiser and the cold-caller folded while the small blind made the call to see the {K-Spades} land on the turn as both active players checked it through.

The river of the {J-Diamonds} saw Shorr's opponent push out 1,600 which Shorr called with little hesitation only to muck at the sight of his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

As Shorr slid his cards to the muck, he slipped to roughly 27,000 in chips.

Traylor's Call Is Good

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Bernard Lee raised to 775 from middle position. Michael Traylor called from the small blind and Robert Georato called from the big blind to see the flop come down {J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Everyone checked and the turn brought the {6-Clubs}. Traylor bet 1,100 and Georato called. Lee also called to keep all three players active in the hand going to fifth street.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Traylor checked. Georato bet 2,600 and Lee folded. Traylor made the call and showed {10-}{10-}. Georato held {9-}{7-} and lost the hand.

Top Pair for Sands

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

David Sands entered the pot from the hi-jack with a raise to 700 which his opponent in the cutoff called to see the dealer drop a {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} flop.

Sands continued for 1,050 which was called by his opponent as the {2-Diamonds} landed on the turn with Sands pushing out another bet; this time amounting to 2,400.

Taking a few moments longer, Sands' opponent made the call before the {3-Spades} was checked through on the river.

Sands tabled his {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades} to successfully capture the pot to move to roughly 15,300 in chips.

Kessler Opening Things Up

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Bernard Lee raised from early position to 775. Allen Kessler called from the hijack seat, Michael Traylor called from the cutoff seat and Chris Klodnicki also called from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and all four players checked.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and action checked to Kessler. He bet 2,000 and only Traylor made the call to see the {3-Clubs} fall on the river. Kessler bet 2,600 and Traylor folded. Kessler showed his hand, two eights without a club.

Mavro Sets Up on Shorr

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Catching the action on a {6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop, we found a continuation-bet of 1,075 from the original raiser with Shannon Shorr making the call from the button.

With the action on Peter Mavro in the big blind, he check-raised to 8,600 leaving himself just a lone 25-denomination chip to cap his cards.

The original raiser deliberated for a few moments before folding as Shorr made the call. Mavro tossed in his last chip and Shorr followed suit as both players tabled their cards.

Shorr: {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Mavro: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

With Mavro in great shape to double, the {8-Spades} and {K-Clubs} completed the board as he moved to roughly his starting stack as Shorr slipped to 16,700 in chips.
