We picked up the action on a flop, heads up between Stan Quinn and the gentleman in Seat 1. There was already about 7,000 in the pot, and Quinn bet 3,300. His opponent check-called there on the flop, and he check-called another 6,200 after the turn. The scary rivered, and both players checked it down.
Quinn tabled , but his two pair had been rivered. Seat 1 tabled , and Broadway earns him the pot.
With that hit, Quinn is back down to about 25,000.
Tom Franklin has been relieved of his remaining short stack, and he'll take an extended dinner break before getting geared up for tonight's Day 1b flight.
We love getting reports from inside the ropes, and this time, it was Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon filling us in on his last hand. Unfortunately, it was the last hand of his Day 1a. Kroon flopped a flush against a player who flopped a set with pocket queens, and all the money got in. Mr. Opponent rivered a full house, though, and Kroon will have a couple hours to kill.
"But you can tell 'em I'll be back," he said as he walked away. So you can expect to see Kroon again come 7:00 PM. Or so. You may remember a similar showing from Kroon at the last Circuit stop in Hammond, Indiana where he was one of the first ones out of Day 1a. His Day 1b went much better, though, and he ended up at the final table three days later. Will we have a repeat showing from "H0" here in Tahoe?
We caught this hand halfway through the action, mostly because of the 20k+ pot that was already in the middle. "The Captain" Tom Franklin and Nick Long were locked up with the board showing . Long bet out 7,500 and Franklin took a long time before folding.
Long took enough from the pot to put him on top of the leaderboard and Franklin is on life support.
We missed the hand as it happend, but Gary "Debo34" DeBernardi was nice enough to fill us in.
Debo was in the big blind, and he called a raise with . "I'm almost embarrassed," he said threatening to end the story. But he continued to tell the tale of the all-club, eight-high flop on which he flatted a 2,000-chip continuation bet. The turn brought a red deuce, a blank, and the raiser put out another 3,000. Debo check-shoved for about 23,000 total, and his opponent made the call with . Debo's flush was ahead, and he faded another club on the river to secure the double.
The player under the gun limped, and a middle position player raised to 1,200 and the player behind him called. Ed Miller called as well, the small blind called and JC Tran called from the big blind. The five players saw the flop come . The blinds checked, UTG bet 4,000, the player behind moved all in and Miller called the all in. The blinds released and the UTG player made an exaggerated fold.

The board finished and Miller joined the top of the leaderboard.
Mark "Pegasus" Smith got all in against Rick Peterson on the turn with the board showing . Peterson held and Smith was drawing to a straight holding . The river bricked for Smith when it came and gave Peterson quads.
