Day 3 Started

Bjerno Leads Coming Into Day 3, Eyes on Le, Lee, and Tehan

Welcome back to the final day at the WSOPC Bicycle Main Event. Yesterday it was recent ring winner Nathan Bjerno who finished up the day with the chip lead after taking the two biggest pots of the day. It was just days ago that Nathan Bjerno was playing in his second ever WSOPC event, and now he has a chance to win his second ring already. Event #5 $585 No-Limit Hold’em attracted 157 entries and created a prize pool of $78,500. After two days of intense play, Bjerno emerged victorious to claim the gold ring and accompanying $21,180 first-place prize.

But spectators are all watching three other men. The first is WPT champion Nam Le, who comes into the day as one of the shortest stacks. Le may not have a huge pile of chips, but he still have a great chance to take home a WSOPC ring here today. Also in the field is Doug Lee, who is looking to take home another WSOPC championship. Should Lee win today, he would become only the second player in WSOPC history to have earned seven figures in lifetime circuit cashes. The other player is Chris Ferguson who has claimed three circuit titles.

The last player in the field who everyone is watching is Joe Tehan, who comes into the day in the middle of the pack. Tehan seemed tired and frustrated last night, but today is a new day and some rest should help Tehan regain his composure coming into the final day. One player flying under the radar trying to set an impressive feat is Erik Roussakis. Roussakis just final table the WSOPC Rincon Main Event and he is looking to go back to back here at the Bike. He's got the chips to do it, but it still remains to be see what lies in the cards.

Action is set to begin at 12 PM PST and well have all the updates you need right here on the live reporting blog.

Nam Wants to Gamble Early

Preflop, David Malka raised to 48,000 on the button. Zhong Chen called from the small blind. Nam Le decided it was time to make a squeeze from the big blind. He moved all in for 318,000.

Malka took his time before folding. Zhong Chen picked up the seating chart, looked at Le's chip count, then folded.

With that Nam is now up to 438,000 and it looks like he's ready to gamble early.

Nam Le Eliminated in 13th Place ($13,355)

Action folded around to Nam Le in the small blind, and he limped in. Nathan Bjerno was in the big blind, and he moved all in, easily having Le covered. Le tanked for about 90 seconds or so before he made the call.

Bjerno: {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Le: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

It was a great call by Le, but it was a terrible flop, coming down {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Le would need to pair up to survive the hand, but the turn brought the {5-Spades}, and the river came the {a-Spades}. Bjerno collected the bounty, and arguably the most accomplished player left in the field is now collecting his prize money.

Varela Pushes Lee Out

Action folded around to Doug Lee in the small blind, and he made it 57,000 to go. Eric Varela made the call out of the big blind, and the flop ran down {j-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. It didn't take Lee too long to fire out 75,000, and it took Varela even less time to shove all in. It was an instant, and massive play, as Varela had 990,000.

Lee tanked for about 30 seconds to fold, and Varela proudly showed {7-Spades}{2-Spades} for a seven high flush draw.

Bjerno's Agression Backfires

A crazy hand just occurred at table one where Zhong Chen scooped up the chip lead. Here's what happened:

Preflop Erik Roussakis made it 66,000 under the gun. Jared Ingles made the call, then Zhong Chen three bet to 150,000 from the button. From there Nathan Bjerno made it 312,000 from the small blind, and action folded back around to Chen, who made the call.

Flop: {2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

Bjerno continued with a 200,000 chip bet and Chen reraised to 500,000. Bjerno snap folded.

Then, Chen turned up his hand: {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. A complete airball.

That hand pushed Chen into the chip lead with 2,300,000.
