Aleksandar Tomovic Leads the Super High Roller After Day 1

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Aleksandar Tomovic leads after Day 1
Aleksandar Tomovic leads after Day 1

The Super High Roller event at the World Series of Poker Circuit at King's Casino in Rozvadov attracted a field of 16 entrants who all ponied up the buy in of €25,000. While guarantee of €500,000 has not been met through the entries so far, late registration and reentry remain available until the first card is dealt as of 18:00 local time on Friday.

After eight levels of 60 minutes each, the field has been whittled down to 10 players. Aleksandar Tomovic (320,000) edged out Stipo Vladic (314,100) in the last hand of the night to claim the overnight lead.

Philipp Zukernik claimed the last spot on the podium with a stack of 197,700, whereas the remaining field included Franco Cantarella (143,700), Czech high-stakes expert Martin Kabrhel (42,900), Renato Nowak (125,600), King's Casino regular Hans Olymp (116,500), Paul Newey (94,800), Quirin Zech (76,100), and Pierre Mothes (67,000).

Jan-Peter Jachtmann, who won a WSOP gold bracelet in 2012 and finished second in the €3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller on Wednesday, was the first casualty in Level 1 after running with pocket queens into the pocket kings of Nowak.

Evangelos Vrakas followed in Level 2 after his turned nut flush ended up second best to the full house of Patrik Antonius. However, Antonius was the next player on the rail after his flopped set of threes were beaten by Zech's turned set of aces.

Besim Hot started the day hot and quickly doubled, only to run out of chips within three bigger hands. A failed bluff attempt against Olymp, aces cracked by the kings of Tomovic, and a gutshot against the top set of Mothes all ran out against the Swiss, and he was gone.

Scott Hanna lost the remainder of his short stack with ace-king against Mothes' {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} on the feature table, and Elliot Smith hit the rail in a three-way all-in clash during the last level of the night.

The remaining 10 competitors will return to the tables at 18:00 local time with blinds at 800/1,600 and an ante of 200. The event is scheduled to play down to a winner on ay 2 while Day 1a of the WSOP Circuit Main Event kicks off at 14:00 local time.

Make sure to tune back in for all the action on Friday, as the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be covering the action of both events.

Smith Busts in Three-Way All In

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Elliot Smith
Elliot Smith

Renato Nowak opened and Martin Kabrhel just flat-called from one seat over. Elliot Smith then got his last 14,400 in and Nowak flat-called that. Kabrhel isolated to 45,000 chips and Nowak tanked for a bit before moving all in. Kabrhel snap-called for his last 61,100 and they went into the below three-way showdown:

Smith: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Kabrhel: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Nowak: {J-Spades}{10-Spades}

The flop came {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{A-Spades} and provided no help for Smith nor Nowak. The {9-Spades} turn however now opened up a flush draw before the blank {J-Hearts} river filled up the board. Smith hit the rail and Kabrhel more than doubled up.

Hanna Vanishes From the Feature Table

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Patrik Antonius & Scott Hanna
Patrik Antonius & Scott Hanna

Unfortunately the stream has been experiencing technical problems once again. From what could be gathered though, Scott Hanna three-bet shoved his last 8,150 with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and initial raiser Pierre Mothes called off the additional chips. Mothes had raised to 2,000 and made the call with {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, spiking a seven on the flop to bust Hanna.

Hot Runs Extremely Cold to Exit the Tournament

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Besim Hot
Besim Hot

Until about 15 minutes ago, Besim Hot held the chip lead on the feature table just about all day long. After his aces versus kings bad beat against Aleksander Tomovic, Hot once again found himself on the losing end of his hand - this time to exit the tournament.

The hand began with Pierre Mothes opening up the action to 2,000 chips with {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} from the hijack. Hot three-bet the action to 7,600 from the big blind with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Mothes called.

Flop: {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Somehow the players were unable to get their chips all in on the flop after Hot bet 10,000 chips despite Mothes flopping top set. Mothes opted to simply call, however, Hot wound up getting the rest of his chip stack of 14,550 when the {3-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, which Mothes quickly called. The {4-Spades} was unable to save Hot, and in quick fashion became the first person to exit the tournament from the feature table.

Tomovic's Kings Crack Hot's Aces

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Besim Hot & Aleksandar Tomovic
Besim Hot & Aleksandar Tomovic

A huge pot just unfolded on the feature table. Due to techinical issues, we are unsure of the pot size, but we estimate that a preflop six-bet battle between Besim Hot and Aleksandar Tomovic led to a pot close to 130,000 chips.

Besim Hot: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Aleksandar Tomovic: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Hot looked good on the flop and turn with the board coming {2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. Hot ran cold on the river when the {k-Clubs} gave Tomovic a set of kings and a huge pot.

Zech Sends Antonius to the Rail

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante
Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius

Quirin Zech raised from under the gun and picked up two callers in Stipo Vladic and Patrik Antonius out of the big blind. The Finn led the flop {3-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for 3,000 and both opponents called before the {A-Spades} appeared on the turn.

Antonius checked, Zech bet 9,500 and Vladic folded before Antonius check-raised all in for exactly 55,000. Zech snap-called and they turned them over:

Zech: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} for top set on the turn
Antonius: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for flopped bottom set

The one outer to save the Finn didn't come, instead it was the {8-Spades} on the river that completed the board.

Cantarella Doubles Through Antonius

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante
Franco Cantarella
Franco Cantarella

Elliot Smith raised to 1,000 and Franco Cantarella three-bet from one seat over before the action reached Patrik Antonius in the big blind. The Finn four-bet to 10,600 and was called by Cantarella only. The flop came {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Antonius continued for 11,000, which Cantarella called.

Same applied for the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn, which triggered a second barrel worth 15,000 by the Finn and a call from Cantarella with another 35,400 behind. The {7-Spades} river saw Antonius shove and Cantarella call with the {4-Spades}{7-Hearts} for trips sevens, Antonius' {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} were cracked.

Vrakas' Stack is Wrecked

Level 2 : 150/300, 25 ante
Patrik Antonius with decent start

Evangelos Vrakas raised and then called the three-bet of Patrik Antonius one seat over on the button. Vrakas check-called a bet on the flop {J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and the {K-Clubs} appeared on the turn. Vrakas bet 10,000 into a pot of 13,500 and Antonius raised to 25,000, triggering a quick all in by Vrakas and an equally quick call by Antonius.

Vrakas: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Antonius: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The {7-Clubs} on the river changed nothing whatsoever and Antonius doubled up for 75,800, leaving Vrakas behind with only 600 chips. The Greek / German had already stormed away though.

Jachtmann Busts First Bullet

Level 1 : 150/300, 0 ante
Jan-Peter Jachtmann
Jan-Peter Jachtmann

Stipo Vladic raised to 700 and Renato Nowak squeezed to 2,300 from the button before Jan-Peter Jachtmann four-bet out of the small blind for 6,500. Vladic quickly got out of the way and then Nowak clicked to 15,300. Jachtmann called and they saw the flop of {2-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

Jachtmann checked and Nowak bet 25,000. "Why so much?" the German asked his opponent. "Did you plan to take a reentry?" he continued and Nowak just shook his head. "You?" he asked back. More small talk followed and then Jachtmann moved all in to get a quick call from Nowak.

Nowak: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Jachtmann: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Both the {2-Spades} turn and the {9-Hearts} river blanked and Jachtmann was eliminated for now, though he can still reenter today. "No problem. I thought he was not feeling confident," the German said and headed to the rail. To balance the tables, Patrik Antonius was moved over from the feature table.
