Boyd and Ferguson Suffer

Dutch Boyd limped from late position followed by a Chris Ferguson limp from the small blind and a check from the big blind.

The flop showed {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Ferguson checked and the big blind bet and was called by both Boyd and Ferguson.

The turn was the {9-Spades} and both blinds checked to Boyd, who bet his position. Both blinds called and went three-handed to the river.

The river card was flipped and showed the {J-Hearts}. Again both blinds checked and Boyd bet. This time Ferguson conceded by folding and the big blind called, showing his {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} out-kicking Boyd's {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Dutch Boyd is down to 1,725 in chips.
Chris Ferguson is down to 1,400 in chips.

Brenes Begins to Slip

After hanging around about even, Humberto Brenes got involved in a large pot.

From middle position he raised preflop. The button came over the top and Brenes called. The flop was {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{7-Spades} and again Brenes lead out with a bet. The button raised and Brenes called.

The turn flipped the {4-Spades} and after Brenes checked, the button bet his remaining 175. Brenes made the call and the hands were turned over. Brenes had {10-?}{10-?} and his opponent had {Q-?}{Q-?}. The river brought the {8-Hearts} and was no help to Brenes.

Brenes now has 1,375 in chips.

Negreanu vs. Newhouse

Mark Newhouse and Daniel Negreanu got tangled in a pot together that would result in Newhouse making an early exit from the event.

After the flop came {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Newhouse got all his money in on the turn when the {J-Hearts} hit the board. Little did he know his {A-?}{8-Diamonds} was drawing dead to Negreanu's set of nines. The river obviously didn't help Newhouse and Negreanu added to his stack, bringing him to 8,400.

Prize Pool and Payouts Updated

We just received word from the tournament staff that the original prize pool and payouts sheet was inaccurate because it was calculated for 881 entries when in fact the tournament only had 880; reason being, one player's entry was voided at the last minute.

Our prize pool and payouts section now reflects the updated information.

Hellmuth = Busto

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth just copped a bit of back luck in a pair of hands that sent him to the rail midway through the fourth level of play and the crowd that had gathered around the table to watch him play heckled him all the way out the door.

The first hand did the heavy damage, as Phil's pocket aces were cracked by an opponent's turned two pair, leaving him with 725 in chips.

A few minutes later, Phil got it in good holding a pocket pair of tens against an opponent's {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, but an ace on the river sent the Poker Brat packing.

Negreanu Still Hot

After the flop came {5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{A-Spades} and his opponent checked to him, Negreanu bet and was quickly called. The turn brought the {6-Spades} and again his opponent check called. The river was the {4-Spades} and yet again a a check call. Negreanu tabled {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} besting his opponent's {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

Negreanu's chip stack is 6,500.

A-Dub Rocks Quads; Eliminates Opponent

Anna Wroblewski and an opponent traded bets on a board showing {9-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {8-Spades} until all of the money went in; Anna had her opponent covered. At the showdown, Anna tabled a pocket pair of nines for kings full and found herself well ahead of her opponent's A-K (trip kings). The case nine popped off on the river, cementing the hand for Wroblewski who now sits with 8,300 in chips and an ear-to-ear smile.
